~ma for your mom, Epic.
quester, that sucks hard. Eff them.
WindSparrow, it's his food bowl. The water bowl is in my room and therefore out of his purview. It's licked clean about 15 seconds after I fill it, so I see no need to wash it. And yeah, I can lift Frankie if I have to, but it's not practical on a daily basis.
I am trying to go high when he goes passive aggressive control freak, but it's hard. I'm doing my best to be compassionate and choose my battles while still standing up for myself. I'm trying to react to each thing he does as if a friend I care about had done it.
God, trying to be a good person is exhausting.
ugh, smonster! bad roommates are the worst!
Sonofabitch! Damn laptop just ate my longass post, then my summation post, then the post bitching about those two losses.
To sum up AGAIN, Mom's okay, no injuries, all the cars are still driveable, but will require some body work.
Mom's kinda freaked out, understandably, at her 2nd accident in 2 months, though this one could have happened to any one(ironically, I did pretty much the exact same thing about 20 years ago, while driving her car), and wondering if she should just stop driving altogether. Which I'm torn about, because I want her to be safe (and I pay her car insurance), but I don't want her to be stuck in the house (between her back problems and feet and legs, she walks with a walker and can't go very far, and public transportation here is near useless) and I can't be her entire social life.
So for right now, we're just in a holding pattern. We're figuring out how to get her to Dr appts next week, and letting her just chill. And waiting to see what this does to the car insurance, which is up for renewal next month.
Yikes, quester, that does sound insanely stressful. Hope you get some relief soon.
smonster, good luck with the continuing to be the bigger person. Hope your roomie gets his cranium out of his rectum real soon.
Ow. I'm hurting, a lot, and I've only got half a pain pill left, because I was stupid and forgot to refill them before they were gone.
Oh Epic, it is good to hear there are no injuries, but I am sorry that your mother's confidence in driving has suffered. My mom pretty much stopped driving after she had an accident then stopped altogether when her thumb joints were too weak to turn the key. When you balance the cost of car upkeep including insurance might it be equivalent to having Ubers regularly for getting to appointments?
Hil, I hope you were able to get some sleep.
Dinner with the newly 25 yo went well last night. He is enthused about his job and was in good humor, although stoned enough to make his father concerned.
Epic, I'm so sorry but glad no one was hurt. Tons of ~ma for your mother and for you.
Pain~ma, Hil.
Mom had to cancel today for the second time this week. She was up sick all night. I'm feeling trapped and exhausted. I've been in pain all week, and I just want to be able to take a shower and go to the market.
Tea: and now my friend H has to cancel for this afternoon because she also had the stomach bug. I'm trying not to cry.
I'm sorry, sj. But of course the last thing you want is for germy people to come by. I hope another option presents itself. Also sending some shower~ma and painrelief~ma.
No, I don't want th to come by sick. I just wasn't prepared for this, and they're is no one else other than my inlaws who I already saw yesterday and couldn't deal with on Inauguration Day even if I wanted to see them two days in a row.
Aw, Epic. I, too, am glad that no one is hurt. It's so hard when driving becomes an issue. The entire world celebrates that my surrogate mom, who turned 90 recently, is no longer driving.
Quite apart from slower cognition, she has broken the femur of one leg...by toppling over in her bedroom...and the tibia of the other...both within one year and one day of each other.
But she's bitter. Way bitter, that she can't drive. I feel so bad for her.
I'm sending good thoughts to you both, Epic.
