Oh Aims, my fingers are crossed for you guys!
Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Digit crossed, Aims!
bonny, what dosage of advil? Like I said above, you can take 800 mg every 4 hours, short-term. If you weren't taking that high of a dose, you might want to try that for a few days and see if it makes a difference.
I had a rotator cuff injury that wasn't a tear, and a few months of physical therapy got it back to normal. You may want to google PT exercises for an injured rotator cuff and give them a shot. (I'm not saying you shouldn't go see an actual physical therapist, but if you want to avoid the expense if at all possible, you can certainly try the exercises yourself at first. If you see no improvement after a week or 2, then you might want to see a PT.)
Aims, luck on the house! I've been praying for you. t edit Oooh, it's right on a bike path? That's cool!
Aims, that house is very cute.

I haven't done the higher dose of advil yet, but I can give that a try. I did two aleve twice a day for three weeks but it didn't seem to even touch the inflammation.
I tried a higher dosage of aspirin for a few days first, but couldn't keep to the 4 hour schedule.
I have 200mg advil...so I should take 4 every 8 hours?

I'll google PT exercises. I've been trying to stretch it out on my new inversion table but have not had too much luck so far. Mostly because I'm afraid of making it worse.

I've had you both in my prayer circle since that post on FB. I'm so glad things have worked out for both of you!

Yup. Or even every 4-6 hours. Whatever works for your schedule. The prescription dosage of advil is 800 mg, even though the highest dose the OTC bottle tells you to take is 400 mg. Taking 800 is fine. You may just need a higher dose for a little while to see if it un-inflames things.
Un-inflame. That's my new word.
I'll google rotator cuff PT exercises and see if any of them look like what I did. It's been a long time, though, so the standard of care may have changed, and the recommended exercises might be totally different from the ones I did.
I think five knocks what I take out of the park. Respect. It doesn't make me sleepy though. So I have that on my side when I take it.
Ativan with a Chardonnay chaser is probably really relaxing. Maybe more than is good.
My stepmom and I blink at other people when they ask for one Advil. Or we ask for some and they hand over one. That's just confusing. Where are the other two?
And further, has anyone overcome a rotator cuff injury?
Oddly, accupunture. For a few people who tried it. Two out of three. One was my Dad. There are also other anti inflammatories out there.

Tim and I go through a 500-count bottle of ibuprofen so quickly, it's comical. We are the Sid and Nancy of ibuprofen.

I'm going to get in touch with my friend, the acupuncturist, to see if he can recommend someone local. I would LOVE for that to work.
Thanks for the encouragement Steph. I'll do the advil until I speak to the needlist.
Cagney is SO much better on the leash these days, but the damage seems to have really accumulated.
In this list of exercises [link] I know I did #2, #3, and #5. I didn't do anything with elastic bands, and I didn't do anything with weights until I was almost 100% recovered.
