Hey, in totally other news...I'm not sure if I mentioned it here, but I've been dealing with a really painful case of 'trigger thumb' for the last 6 months. For the first 3, I thought it was arthritis. When I figured it out, I began wearing a brace that sort of helped.
At least, I stopped rolling over on it at night and freaking myself out when it got stuck from bumping the thumb in any way.
Flash forward to about two weeks ago, when I started taking a heaping teaspoon of turmeric with a little ground pepper in water every morning.
I wish I had before and after photos for you, but it is like a miracle. It's not 100% fixed, but boy howdy, I'm pleased. I've stopped wearing the brace during the day at all AND my rotator cuff injury hurts less as well.
I'm not advocating for woowoo, but a friend who is totally NOT in that camp told me that it helped her arthritic joints dramatically, so I figured it was worth a try.
I'm so grateful for the tip...and for the lack of constant pain.
Congrats, Skye!
erika, I can't stand to watch the Kardashians for long enough to form an opinion, beyond "oh lord no".

You deserve a miracle, if you can stand to drink that! Seriously, there's been some research into using turmeric for controlling inflammation, so I can believe it.
I had a friend who swore she cured her carpal tunnel with turmeric and yucca.

I slug it down so fast, I really don't have the chance to taste anything!
Laura, I'm so sorry for your loss. Much love to you and the family.
Congratulations on good job news for Andi and Askye!
ION, I am phoneless until tomorrow and I'm ready to tear my hair out. It's my timekeeper, my Fitbit synch, my calendar, my Pokemon Go! Dying, I tell you, dying of first world problems. At least Verizon is replacing it at no charge even though it was a month out of warranty. I'm letting that console me for the inconvenience.
beekaytee, my brother swears by turmeric. I may just have to try that for myself. I've started having heel problems even with stretching it out. I'm curious, though; what's the ground pepper supposed to do (other than possibly ameliorate the flavor of the turmeric.)
I've read ground pepper helps to help make the turmeric more bioavailable or some such. They're always on those eat this with this for maximum health benefits list. I've been thinking of making a chai mix with some turmeric.
A friend of mine with EDS kayaked the whole Mississippi last year. She started taking turmeric somewhere along the way and swears it made a huge difference.
I am massively tired and cranky and having a hard time focusing on work, mostly because I just don't want to be there. I accidentally skipped a BC pill this weekend and now that triggers a whole PMS cycle for me. That did not used to happen. Anyway, I am trying to keep it in perspective and not extrapolate out one crappy day, but is really just like to walk away forever and spend the rest of the day watching Buffy and eating cream cheese brownies.
That's a main ingredient in the pain pills I give my old dog Chile Pepper!
ltc and I both overslept by a lot today, which somehow hasn't made me any less tired. It has thrown off our schedule for the day though. We're just finishing lunch, and then I'm going to attempt to give her a nap, during which I really should shower, but I'm probably going to nap as well.
sj has read what I have read.
To maximize the effectiveness of the turmeric you're eating always make sure to do these 3 things:
Activate turmeric by heating it up.
Boost turmeric's absorption by 2,000% by combining it with some freshly ground black pepper.
Mix turmeric with a healthy fat to bypass the liver.
I haven't tried the fat part or the heat. So, that may be next.

I took it right after a pretty hard workout this morning. I'll be curious to see if I am less sore two days from now.
