[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

ltc and I both overslept by a lot today, which somehow hasn't made me any less tired. It has thrown off our schedule for the day though. We're just finishing lunch, and then I'm going to attempt to give her a nap, during which I really should shower, but I'm probably going to nap as well.

sj has read what I have read.

To maximize the effectiveness of the turmeric you're eating always make sure to do these 3 things:

Activate turmeric by heating it up.
Boost turmeric's absorption by 2,000% by combining it with some freshly ground black pepper.
Mix turmeric with a healthy fat to bypass the liver.

I haven't tried the fat part or the heat. So, that may be next.

A friend of mine with EDS kayaked the whole Mississippi last year. She started taking turmeric somewhere along the way and swears it made a huge difference.

I took it right after a pretty hard workout this morning. I'll be curious to see if I am less sore two days from now.

If you don't want to drink it hot you can simply toast the spices in a dry pan before adding them to your drink. I often do that with recipes that call for spices.

Thanks for all the tips! What kind of drink to you add them to, sj?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

When I took turmeric, it did help, but all my bodily secretions turned yellow. I had yellow sweat, yellow earwax-- my bras and underwear turned yellow, my sheets turned yellow, my fingernails turned yellow. It was really weird.

You could add it to water like beekaytee is doing, or I've seen a lot of golden milk recipes that add the spices to warm or cold milk. You could also brew it with tea or add it to hot chocolate. Or in a smoothie, I guess.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Thanks, Sail!

Trying to think how I want to address you now, BKT or Bee or Clydeless. I'm glad you are getting relief with the turmeric and pepper.

My dad used to swear by alfalfa tablets for his arthritis. My mom started taking them and found they helped her cramps. I had been taking them for a variety of aches and pains then I got a nasty cold with a sore throat so swallowing those horse pills was not going to happen. Then I realized that the liquid chlorophyll I'd gotten for Harvey was made from alfalfa, so I sloshed about a teaspoon of that into my hot cocoa. The liquid is sooooooo much more effective, like the tablets caused me to feel less achy but the liquid makes me feel good.

I just keep misreading it as BTK, and think that we've got a serial killer aficionado on the board now...
