[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

{{{Aims}}} I don't even know what to say. That sucks a lot.

Is anyone here well versed in reporting tax for the vesting of restricted stock when shares were withheld to cover said tax? I'm not sure what amount shows up on the 1099-B and what the cost-basis is (the IRS is assuming $0, and now they want money). I'm not sure whether I did it right this year either, in which case I owe them more money. Unless I am paying taxes on the shares withheld to pay taxes, I'm not sure I should be paying any more taxes. I can't make the math work out and I don't understaaaaaaand. I've looked through my books and checked some websites and I'm so confused.

sj, I'm sorry. I hope you can get some pain relief and sleep soon.

PC, right about then is where I call my CPA. Things vary so much from state to state and year to year. Of course, one of us may be a CA CPA, in which case you're golden.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

God, omnis. I'm sorry, but glad he's OK now.

And some eye roll at my sister for her definition of "all is ok".

I think my parents took your family's lessons for what counts as OK and what is not. Say, do you find yourself want to headdesk within 60 seconds of communication with them too, and not because you don't love them but because their idea of healthy communication was probably crafted by a highly intoxicated Crowley (from "Good Omens")?

Aims, Dammit. I'm so sorry for you and Joe. I also tend to believe we share the same mother now. Last but not least: is there something we or I can do? At all?

if you can afford it, follow your gut, and MiracleMan's gut

I'm going with Typo's words. I'll also say this: do the least stressful thing you can come up with. You do not need more stress at this point.

sj, I'm sorry for sleeping troubles.

Now I have to doublecheck your post to see if I can identify what you fixed.

I'm guessing "watch out for."

Yep. I used "look" instead of "watch".

I always am impressed with how you explain beyond just your own perspective.

I seriously doubt it if I could explain my place (or anything, come to think of it) with just my own perspective. And maybe not so unrelated, the thing I'm most grateful for in the past two years is meeting so many friends and people who helped me to see things beyond just my own perspective. I'm not sure if I could survive these two years (with my own health problems and my parents health problem) with our own perspective the way I did. I can't remember who said here that they're sorry for buffistas to have shitty experience with shit but grateful for advice and place that will listen to them, but that's what I feel about the friends who have been there for me. The one who had cancer in the age of 23 and living with a shitty immune system ever since; the one with the chronic depression; the queer one with the semi-dysfunctional family; the one who became secular. I can claim for none of the above, but having their perspectives around me helped beyond words.

Edited: never mind. I was right the first time.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Nice, Shir.

And too true. I rely on and love my neatspace friends and my Buffistas.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Reading along and lurking. Aims, my dear, sending lots of love to you and Joe and Em. You are NOT the worst parents in the world. You are so far from it. You are modeling how to handle the plot twists throws at you, and that's one of the most valuable things for a kid to see. I know you want everything to be smooth, and goodness knows y'all deserve a break from chaos. Just... as much as you can let go of the self-judgment... that's energy you can use elsewhere. Nothing siphons away energy like judging yourself, and I know from self-judging.

bonny, you are fabulous.

Shir, hi honey. Love reading your posts, and phooey on those who assault the Pride goers.

Heart attack. "Right lower thingie was 90% clogged". Stint put in. Then a blood clot.

Yikes! Was he just trying to be efficient and get it all done at once? Glad he's okay.

Also, I hate to be That Person, but it's a stent, not a stint.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Thanks, everyone. I slept about 5 hours last night, but I'm somewhat awake and the brownies are in the oven for today's gathering.

That sounds pretty intense, Omnis. I hope his recovery goes well.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have gotten two tolerable nights of sleep in a row, sj. May that radical turnaround be contagious. I'm blowing sleep cooties in your direction right now. Shit, maybe that would work better if I hadn't washed my hands since I woke up almost not tired...

And some eye roll at my sister for her definition of "all is ok".

They're trying to make it so you can get all the news in context at once and not alone where you may freak out or turn to Dr. Internet and then freak out. And sometimes people find stuff hard to say over the phone, one way or another.

I'm not saying I don't hate it when it's done to me, just that I understand most of the motives. And they were planning to inform you! It's the "No one mentioned the colonoscopy to you? Despite his doctor's concern we're sure it's okay." or worse yet, when they deliberately are holding back information on a planned permanent basis that drives me screaming up a wall. I feel conflicted enough about my (pretty inviolable) call to live time zones away from my immediate family. But that doesn't mean I don't want to be involved.

Yup. I've done it myself. I've also had it done to me, so I *do* understand the reaction of "What do you mean, 'okay'? How does that qualify as 'okay'???"

But what it really means is, "The current crisis situation is over and resolved in as good a manner as possible and no one is dead. Details are forthcoming."
