I honestly don't know. I want to turtle away. A friend who was trying to help us buy the house said to let him know when we do move so that he and his wife could help. I told him, "I think we're going to do this one alone." Right now, I don't want to go through the asking people to help us move. A-fucking-gain. Especially if it's to a temporary place until we find a permanent place and then have to move a-fucking-gain. I am in "retreat from everyone" mode. Meanwhile, my mother is offering sage advice such as, "Don't wait until October 1 to figure it out." Thanks, mom. Here I was thinking September 29 would be a good day to go looking at apartments.

Oh, Aims. I'm so sorry. I agree with, erika; go on the vacation if you can at all do it, especially if you're worried about how all of this will effect Emeline. I would think it would be extra hard for her at her age to not only have to move again but to also cancel the vacation she's been looking forward to.

My advice is to not turn away help from friends when it's offered. It was offered in good will, and if you need it, accept it. As for the camping trip, that's a personal call. If it's within your finances, it might be a nice respite from all this.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
Coming form a family who moved a lot AND had money issues, I say don't go on the trip but still camp. Set up a tent (borrow one from a friend if you have to) in your backyard. Cook over the firepit. Do crafts.
We had some REALLY cheap vacations when I was a kid and all I remember was the fun.
