Ooh. That is a little scary, Teppy. But also entirely possible it's something stupid like "oh, the doctor had an opening earlier and Tim was on the list" or "the note in the file said they'd prefer to see him before he starts new RA therapy, and the doc figures he should start sooner not later". If it were something horrible, they'd probably fit him in sooner than two weeks? I hope?

He is on the cancellation list, but the scheduling lady didn't say "Dr So-and-so has a cancellation" (and who cancels 2 weeks out?); she said "Dr So-and-so wants to see you September 12."

If it were something horrible, they'd probably fit him in sooner than two weeks? I hope?

I want to believe that, but I feel like it's something horrible but this is still the soonest they can squeeze him in, because he's a new patient.

I mean, what doctor moves up an already existing appointment to say "Hey, it's all good!"? That doesn't happen.

Tim's test results should be posted online in his healthcare web portal thingie, I would guess in the next day or 2. So we'll probably have some idea of what the results are, sooner than the doctor appointment.

Our wings are not tired.

It is possible that they routinely make appointments far out in the future pending test results and after the office is notified that the tests are completed they check the schedule for current openings. That would not be unusual behavior for my physician offices. They don't like to waste time with appointments when the ordered test results aren't complete.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I don't blame you for freaking out, Steph.

Also, what WS said! I would be freaking out too, just wanted to point out that in my experience with lots of doctors this does happen for mundane reasons.

I couldn't think of a single mundane reason for moving up an appointment, so THANK YOU. Seriously.

I know I'm tense and upset right now, but I feel like I would react this way on a good day: on FB I referred to having T. Rex arms after lifting weights at the gym, and one guy cannot understand why I would be sore and is trying to fix my gym routine. He asked if I stretch after lifting.

WHY NO WHAT IS THIS THING YOU CALL "STRETCHING" I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT.

He just seems stunned that anyone would ever be sore after a workout and needs to mansplain at me about it. I'm about to tell him to go read some weightlifting forums and ask THEM if they stretch.

Oh, Steph. I'm so sorry this has been so stressful on every level. I'm hoping that the rescheduled appointment helps get answers quicker and not more stress.

I am having such a hard time bouncing back from what I am calling the "unfortunate incident." I can't focus or think clearly (let alone write.) I feel like such a loser. Fuck this shit.

I think that's a normal reaction, Nora. NOT a loser reaction. It's barely been 24 hours. Give yourself a little more time.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

What Teppy said. It's completely normal to still be freaked out.
