"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm getting my hair cut and colored Saturday, and I'm sorely tempted to cut about 5 inches off and get rockabilly platinum streaks.

Rockabilly suits you.

The Internet is out in my neighborhood. Thank goodness for smartphones with data plans.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

That is the PERFECT response. Good for her!

It's surprising to me that she can still be so childish in some arenas (like, say, fighting with her brother) and then in others, she just has such maturity. I guess it goes with her age? But she's sort of always been like that.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Praise Jesus, I have a steroid pack for my migraine and two backup prescriptions if it doesn't work.

Steph, or anyone else who's taken this kind of steroid pack, the instructions say to take 6 pills on the first day, beginning with breakfast. I would really like to start taking the pills now and not wait until morning. Any problem if I just start taking them now, adhering to the schedule as much as possible?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I asked a pharmacist one time if I could start them right away (evening-ish), and he said that it could keep you awake all night. So it won't *hurt* you, but it may fuck with your sleep.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The dosing instructions for the first day are two before breakfast, one after lunch, one after dinner, and two before bed. So I don't see how starting now will be any worse, and I'm ready to set this headache on fire.

Thanks, Steph. I really appreciate you serving as our unofficial pharmacy tech.

No problem. Try to split up all 6 into 2 doses over the rest of today; that might help.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yeah, steroids can keep you up at night, but if the pain is that bad, then go for it. Awake and pain-free is better than awake because there's too much pain to sleep.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Dana, I hope you get relief soon.

Too much drama this afternoon. My mother broke a bottle of olive oil while inwas in the shower and somehow a shard skittered all the way down the hall and I sliced open my foot the minute I stepped out of the bathroom it took forever to clean up all the glass and make the tile floor no longer slippery from the oil.
