Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The heater got fixed. I was actually pretty impressed -- the landlord came over within about half an hour of me calling him, and then he found a repairman to come and fix it on a Saturday morning, and it was fixed within a few hours. And the landlord brought over a space heater for me to use in the meantime, too.

4 degrees here. With the wind chill, supposed to feel like -8.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Lovely, upper sixties, here. We have definitely not had our promised El Nino winter yet.

Man, I feel like the hardest bit about adulting is remembering that you're the one that needs to do it. There was a bit in a King of the Hill cartoon once where LuAnn sees Hank refilling the ice trays and says, "Thank God, there'll be ice again!" like it literally had not occurred to her that there was any possible way she could affect that outcome. I had a moment like that in the store today when I bought some pens. I've spent all this time bemoaning to myself that I no longer have my favorite (cheapo, not serious like some of y'all) pens. It wasn't until today when I made the connection that I could, in fact, remedy that problem, and no one else was going to.

The car said it was 5 degrees when we were driving home from the baby shower.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Snow and freezing rain expected tomorrow. It was worth it to brave the grocery lines if it means no having to go outside. I have all the fixin's for home made tacos and enough cheese to last through the Apocalypse.

We rescheduled our Valentine's dinner for Monday because we don't want to take ltc out in tomorrow's weather.

Because we both ate well this afternoon, me at vw's baby shower and TCG sandwiches with vw's DH, we are having chips and guacamole for dinner tonight. That counts, right?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

We're not expecting our sleet and freezing rain until Monday. But I shopped today anyway to avoid the rush. I'm thinking of making a lemon pound cake tomorrow. It seems like it would be a sunny snack for a winter weather day.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

A friend who had invited me out last night invited me out again. I bailed last night, so I felt guilty and went out to meet up. We had a great time having dinner and drinks and watching the slam dunk contest on ESPN (surprisingly entertaining), and then I walked home. When the wind blew, I thought I might die. I got home and checked my phone and it was ONE DEGREE. This very well may be the coldest weather I've ever been out in.

Thrive to spite them

Last night was cold, made colder by the fact Mom prefers the house to be frigid at night (she says the heater makes the air to dry at night, I pointed out we have a humidifier.).

I should have gotten the space heater and plugged it in but I kept getting up to put on layers because my shins were cold...my pj pants and leggings kept riding up. There's a pair of leg warmers I finally unearthed and put on.

Our wings are not tired.

I have no choice but to mention my open sliding doors and windows. Typical weather this week with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 60s. LOVE this time of year.
