Penny was a very good traveller. I did give her a tablet or half of one this morning so she spent most of the day prior to being in the car drugged.
But she was fairly quiet and once we got on the interstate and kept moving she totally settled down. However, there was a minor escape at the hotel (the carrier door came open while I was trying to open the hotel room door). I corralled her and she hid and then came out a bit, hissed at her reflection in the mirror , and then hid some more. She hasn't eaten but I'm waiting for her to eat so I can take up the food and water again. Horrible sounding but better than dealing with the effects of that in the moving van.
I also left the Feliway spray in the van. When we get breakfast I may run out and get it and then spray everything down. She's adjusted to the collar I got her so that will be staying on and Mom is going to get one for her cat. Which hopefully will help.
Today was...there was a point where I got totally overwhelmed and was just convinced I would never leave. That I'd be mired in the limbo of wanting to but being unable to forever. Which isn't realistic but I was very emotional the past few days.
I meant to buy a memento for my nephew and get some Vermont local beer for my brother but the only beer was in bottles and I didn't to deal with broken beer bottles in the back or stuck with the beer under my feet.
You're doing great askye. Good for you and good for Penny.
Moving is always harder than we think it will be, and yet we keep managing it.
Question answered elsewhere... never mind...
I adulted today. I worked for 4 hours, did my grocery shopping, put gas and oil in my car, wiped the headlights with stuff to make them clearer, and now I'm doing laundry, because it seems, no one else in this building does theirs on Sat. They all do it on Sun. like I do. Huh.
I had to tell some one that I adulted for a change.
Yay, adulting! You get a shiny gold star
I applaud the adulting! Gold star from me, too.
It's a working weekend, where the work is researching breweries and beer stuff in Birmingham, AL. So interviews, running around, drinking beer. I'm so tired and OD'd on beer - not drunk, just low level thick-headedness and full stomach and tastebuds full of malt and hops.
It's been a long day - a good, productive day - but a long one. I love my job, but it's definitely work!
Yay, adulting!
We went to Mario Batali's new Babbo restaurant in Boston tonight to celebrate our 5th anniversary. So good!
Because I'm sure everyone was dying to know the outcome of the You Must Eat Outside In 40-Degree Weather scenario...some people did, in fact, eat outside. They built a big fire in the fire ring and bundled up and ate outside. Some of us ate inside because we couldn't feel our toes. It all worked out without me having to Hulk out.
Glad you didn't have to go all Hulk on them, Steph! And stayed warm.
I did some adulting today. Not enough, but I never do enough of it. I did some end-of-season yard work, refilled the bird feeder, cleaned and refilled the birdbath, and drained and put away the hoses. And then I was exHAUSted, so I did some work-type work, and then my sister came over, but she also was tired from yard work, so she brought me food and we hung out for a bit and she approved my choice of floor covering and then she went home. I'm not much into the Dem Debate tonight, so I'm recording it in case I care tomorrow, and now I'm going to bed.
