Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

So we talked a little bit about how all we do is watch TV while on laptops so I feel guilty that, so far, that's all we've done today.

But that's the best! I love doing that. It's my plan for the rest of the day.

Swap M playing Dragon Age: Inquisition for watching TV (I have been on my laptop & tablet since I got up), and you have us. So not a loser, Nora.

Thrive to spite them

So there are people who are working on a shed who , I swear, have been building this thing since last year. BE DONE I'm tried of lisening to saws and hammers. And there's some kind explosion thing that keeps going off. I thought it was illegal fireworks but I'm not sure.

Plus I had caffene and I shouldn't have so now I'm taking klonopin.

I'm also in...well not what I slept in but a night gown and a robe. This is as dressed as I'm going to get. The day has sort of slipped away from me and I'm not sure how that happened but right now I don't have enough energy to care.

Nora, I think it's good you realize that your depression is spiraling and that you need to make changes but it's 4th of July and you don't like it, so be kind to yourself and practice self care. Planning to call the therapist is a good idea.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Nora, you most definitely do not suck.

We spent the 4th spending money, which seems patriotic enough for me. Mostly trying to get things ready for ltc. We bought curtains for her room as well as a changing pad for her dresser, a foam pad for the mattress in the spare bedroom, and then food shopping for us and some food items for a birthday gift for my grandfather. Papa is impossible to shop for, but he should like the anchovy, the really good Italian tuna in olive oil, and the stack of scratch tickets we got him.

We had chili for dinner tonight, which was delicious! I wish I could have more than one bowl.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Haaaa.

So, it's like the magical Buffista incantation, once you bitch about it on the board, it resolves itself! Probably within 15 minutes of posting my sad post, I got a call from a friend who I really like, who invited us up to her and her fiance's place for a gathering. It was super low key and Tom had a great time (though he'll be freaking out about it tomorrow, like the social anxiety DTs.) I also had a great time, but that's an easier feat for me than Tom. I just love it when he's relaxed and being himself around other people.

I had offered to be the DD so that he could use beer as a social lubricant.

Man, I am so glad we went out - got out of the city (went to the Northshore) and ate great food (the fiance is a chef) and it was just so much fun.

As you may have gathered from my post, I really needed something like that! Thanks for listening and reassuring.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That's great, Nora! I'm so glad you guys had a successful outing and with cool people you like too.

That's awesome Nora! I went to a party where I knew no one but the host, and had a pretty decent time. Except my crush on the host got lots worse, and I don't think she's into me. Sigh.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I found out this morning that an aunt is going into hospice next week. She has an inoperable brain tumor, and while they were able to shrink it a bit, it's at the palliative treatment stage. My aunt's in her 90s, I believe, and she's had a heck of a life. Married my WWII fighter pilot uncle, then lived in interesting places until settling down to raise a family in a Michigan lake house. There's a picture of her in her 20s, with her hair in victory rolls wearing my uncle's leather flight jacket that's just so glamorous and badass. It looks like they'll be able to make her passing relatively peaceful and painless, but I'm sad to see her go.
