Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

acid reflux

Oh, let me share my experience! I have occasional acid reflux, which was really terrible when I was taking a certain BP medicine (HCTZ). I found that the prescription once-a-day PPI type (like Prilosec) makes things worse for me, but the OTC take-it-as-you-need-it histamine-blocker type (like Tagamet) works quite well. (The calcium/TUMS type is only good temporarily and most of them contain things I don't want to eat, like mineral oil.) So, FWIW, if one kind doesn't work for you, there's another option.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My acid reflux flared up badly a month or so ago, and Tums did nothing but taste like chalky despair. So I got an OTC histamine blocker (I am too lazy to go see which one) and it's worked perfectly.

You know what the annoying thing about antidepressants is? I won't know if it's helping for at least 2 weeks, if not more. Boooooo.

Also, it's cloudy and I would rather take a nap than one last long (45-50 minutes) walk to prep for the 5K.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I eat Tums like candy these days.

I did that for a while, until I got a kidney stone.

Teppy can you still look stuff up like whether the histamine blocker types are safe for pregnancy?

I've had the acid reflux for years and it has never been well managed but it is so much worse with the GD diet an it's focus on non starchy vegetables and proteins. My stomach can't handle it.

Nevermind it looks like I am already on one of the histamine ones, Pepcid, which isn't helping at all. And I can't take Zantac because it acts like speed in my system.

hip deep in pie

sj, there's an old wives tales that indigestion/acid reflux during pregnancy means you will have a baby with a full head of hair.

Probiotics have really helped with my acid reflux issues.

Sue, I have heard that too, and, if it's true we can blame TCG because I barely had any hair at all until I was 2. I'm already on probiotics as well. The doctor is putting me on prilosec which I went off of years ago because it stopped helping but it's worth a shot.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

sj, we bought some ginger root pills for my daughter for a boat trip so she wouldn't have to take dramamine. I've been taking it for indigestion and reflux when they pop up and it actually has worked for me. If ginger is safe during pregnancy, you could try it.
