I have such a line to straddle at work. Because I have all the snark one expects from a Buffista going on in my head. At the same time, the things that come out of my mouth have to fit the Good Attitude model. Moments of relief come from a couple of people who have delicious senses of humor, firmly grounded in apprehension of how ridiculous life is.

Man, there's nothing like a candid photo to make you realize how fat you really are. *sigh* This is not how I see myself.

I still see myself as the 95 lb size 2 I was in high school. I hate when pictures tell me differently.

I met with the nutritionist today. I have to have 3 meals and 3 snacks a day with no more than 10 hours of fasting between my last snack of the night and breakfast the next day. Each meal and snack has to have a very specific amount of carbs in it and I have to test my blood sugar 4 times a day. I know there are buffistas here with diabetes who deal with this every day, but I can't honestly see myself doing this every day. It is so regimented. I also can't see myself resisting a milkshake or a huge bowl of pasta for the next 5 months. I don't have that much willpower.

sj, I did find that eating 6 times a day makes resisting the milkshake and pasta a lot easier because you are never hungry. Having appropriate snacks around is a big help. They didn't have me test my own blood but made me come in weekly to have it done. Since it was controlled with diet that may have made the difference there.

sj, I did find that eating 6 times a day makes resisting the milkshake and pasta a lot easier because you are never hungry. Having appropriate snacks around is a big help. They didn't have me test my own blood but made me come in weekly to have it done. Since it was controlled with diet that may have made the difference there.

It requires a lot of planning on my part, which I suck at, especially if I want to be out for the day doing errands. And most of my go to snacks are too carb filled.

Can I whinge a little?

My doctor upped my meds, which makes me feel great with having my motivation and focus back. However, it comes with a huge side-helping of HEADACHE and MIGRAINE. I go to bed with a headache, I wake up with a headache. Pain killers do nothing. This is why I went off it last time. The lower dose I was taking doesn't give me headaches, but it leaves me susceptible to major depression. I've been stuck in one for close to the past six months. I only finally asked to up the meds, because I was desperate. Now, I don't know. I'll wait it out a little while longer to see if I adapt, but I didn't last time. Arghhh.

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

sj, sorry about all the dietary woes. Would having some kind of online food tracker help? I use [link] to track my food and exercise. If anything, it will help keep you more aware of what you're eating. You have to be honest, though, for it to really be of benefit.

Oh Sail, constant headaches are an awful price to pay. Have you tried any of the alternative fixes for the headaches. My niece got rid of her headaches with essential oils. Others have had luck with acupuncture. I do hope you can find a solution soon.

Planning does suck. I put together a weeks worth of snacks in baggies at a time. Nuts, HB egg, carrots or celery sticks, cheese sticks, and other non sugary stuff. When there is a whole pile of options there it is easier, and easy enough to take with you when you are out and about. Meal planning was more like variations on a theme. 3 standard breakfast options that fit the dietitian's orders, 3 lunches, 3 dinners, then change up the ingredients some. It is worth a bit of effort.
