Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Sister~ma, please! My sis is about to take a giant leap of faith.
She has been offered a seasonal job with the Grant Park Music Festival here in Chicago. It would mean quitting her FT job, closing up her apartment and moving in with me for the summer. And for just over 50% of what she is making now!
Crazy, yeah? But her job right now is utterly toxic and doesn't let her use her real skills. She needs to get out of her apartment, which she moved into as a couple but has been carrying as a single for the past year. And most importantly, I think, she needs to emotionally/mentally break from being tied to Milwaukee and our dad.
The new job would be much more fun and exciting, right in line with what she really wants to be doing career-wise, and they're really excited about having her, even though she's overqualified. And she has a good friend in a related role here in Chicago who says great things about the people she'd be working for. Who have committed to making every effort to help her build connections and find something more permanent. We've pretty exhaustively gone through every pro and con we can come up with, and bottom line, she's scared shitless but we both think it's a leap worth taking.
Crazytimes.
Crazytimes, but it sounds to me like a giant leap towards sanity. Lots of sister~ma.
That sounds like a great opportunity for your sister, brenda, and I'm glad to see you help her make that leap.
You're a good sister, brenda
Best of luck to your sister, Brenda!
I made JZ hashbrowns
Oh I am slightly disappoint, because I read that as hash brownies. Though I'm sure the hashbrowns were yum.
Leap-ma for your sister, Brenda.
The only reason she can even consider this is the fact that I'm here in Chicago. So it's an opportunity that would not otherwise be really possible for her. So that's good. The biggest disruptor is going to be her cats. Hooboy.
The timing is good too. Our dad is a lot more mobile and self-sufficient in the summer. Well, he's self-sufficient most of the time, but in summer we don't have to worry about him deciding to shovel out the driveway or slipping on the ice. And he likes to spend a lot of time in the Wi house so again, easier for her to break away.
Now I *really* need to get some organizing and decluttering underway.
It's good to be able to help.
Brenda, your sister is lucky to have you. Best of luck to her.
Brenda, I'm currently taking a similar chance - living cheaply and in a different sort of circumstance with people who have my back in order to pursue the career that I actually want.
My vote is completely scary and completely worth it. I've always really liked your sister - tell her I'm rooting for her. For you both.
