[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Always Anti-fascist!

Weird, clueless workaholic dad who can never understand he upsets people...are you sure we're not related?

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Hypothetically, if I were to visit my family, who live six hours away, and I could only see them on Sunday morning, my dad would still go to church and completely miss me. Some parents are truly clueless even when they love you.

Thrive to spite them

Thanks Sail!

I like it , which is really what matters, makes me feel confident and sexy. (kinda). I never really want to wear lipstick until my hair is short and not to make myself look more feminine but because the whole short hair makes me feel sexy, wearing lipstick is sexy so then I want to.

They were cannibals, weren't they?

Headhunters and cannibals to least some extent.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Argh. Finn keeps matting no matter how much I brush him. I think the next step may be taking him in to the vet to be clipped. I tried the little letter opener thing to slice through the mats, but he HATED it - I think it pulled on his skin no matter how gentle I tried to be.

I feel like a failure as a cat owner. I can tell Finn is miserable with these mats tugging at his skin, and I feel like there's nothing I can do that won't hurt him more.

Don't feel bad, my parents had a cat like that. Cobwebby fur that matted like crazy and would maul you if she even saw the letter opener or you snagged a mat. At least with the vet option, it'll be a set period of hate, mostly directed at someone else.

Thanks, sarameg. That helps. He has an appointment on Thursday, but I just wish there was something I could do for him NOW.

I know. My dad would risk her wrath with leather gloves but then she'd avoid him (and curse at him. And stalk attack him) for days. My mom was unamused and tried to head it off with grooming visits (but this was the cat who once escaped the car at a mobile rabies clinic -where the vets climbed in the car- and wedged herself n an exterior wheel well. So. It never went *well* but she was always mad at not them.)

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I am really hating my hematologist lack of communication skills. Went to him to find out where my anemia came from. He told me that I had a large number of medications and it was hard to know which one caused it, but his best guess was my simvastatin (which makes sense - statins cause a lot of trouble.) So I've made my diet more rigorous so I can start losing weight and control my choloesterol without statins. The doctor also took 6 vials of blood for far more extensive labs than my primary care does. After hearing no followup I contacted medical office to find out whether the doctor still thought statins were the best guess. His medical assistant replied the next day: "he says your anemia is due to your diabetes, as is your loss of kidney function". I responded: "this is the first I've heard about loss of kidney fucntion. Any other test results I should know about? And also the doctor specifically mentioned statins as one possible contributor to anemia. Is that still his guess or has it changed. She replied that the kidney function problem is the only abnormality besides the anemia, and that it might not be a true problem - might just be a varietion, but that anyway the cause was diabetes, and as to the statin,s he would get back to me." I don't like this "diabetic, whaddaya expect?" attitude with a side of "fat, whaddya expect?" Yes diabetes and overweight make a whole bunch of syndromes more likely. especially since I've been keeping my A1C abour 5.5 for several years, I think this is bullshit. Even if diabetes and overeweight make it more likelty, shit still has causes. It is like the shit doctors do where when an old person gets sick they just attribute it to old age. Shit stukk has causes. Just because age makes you more vulnerable does not mean specific symptoms are not caused by something.
