Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
So over being sick. Having to oxygenate my blood is tedious. And apparently not as automatic as one would hope.
shuffles next to you, brings the box of tissues and an extra tube of peppermint/eucalyptus lip balm
At this point, I just want my ears to stop popping every time I swallow or blow my nose.
Finn update: Other than the not eating, he is in good health. So is Spidey, who ended up coming along for the ride because Finn was flipping out in his carrier, and Spidey was flipping out on TOP of the carrier, but they both calmed the hell down when I shoved Spidey in there with Finn.
So, I guess they're getting along.
Anyhow, Finn's initial lack of eating was probably caused by the stress, but the lack of eating led to a sour stomach, which would explain why he would seem interested in food but then turn away from it after a bite. Dr. H gave Finn an antacid, and his appetite has already started returning. In fact, he and Spidey ate from the same plate at the same time with no problem.
These cats have been living together for less than a week.
What they're saying in unheard cat talk:
"Dude! You're here! Finally!"
"Yeah, sorry, man, got the wrong directions. And sorry about the belly, man."
"No big, The Human takes good care of us. Hey, after dinner, let's wreck the living room! I saw a picture on Facebook that I want to try!"
Anne, their bonding amuses and delights me to no end. I've had cats that adored each other, but it never came about in such a short time (outside of being from the same family, obviously.)
Glad to hear about the occurrence of inter-kitty bonding. Makes the household so much easier to live in when the kitties are friends with each other.
Yesterday morning we were treated to the sight of two baby hummingbirds sitting on the clothesline right outside the office window. We both got to have a nice long satisfying look at their morning activities, fluttering and preening, trying to shove each other over, sticking out their tongues and being fed by Mom several times apiece. What an extraordinary sight, let alone that ‘twas viewed comfortably from the chair in which one takes breakfast here. Then I didn't get home before dark and the birds had done what birds do, flown off and settled down somewhere.
Happily this morning I soon found one of the babies hanging around my garden and got some nicely detailed shots of the fluffy downy hindquarters and wee clawed toes. Little Buzz fed it a few times and then zoomed off, so perhaps the other twin needed its own space; never saw them together today. Put out fresh nectar in clean feeders and was rewarded by Little Buzz hovering and circling around me at eye level.
Later baby was sitting in my pine tree near the feeder, incautiously close to the ground. Sat calmly and let me walk right up for a look. My cat Pearl stood up on her hind legs and watched with lascivious interest, so I hope the bird is faster than the cat. Then I broke up our little viewing party, chased the cat back into the house and made noise until the birdie took up a seat in a less tempting spot, higher off the ground.
Fluffy, Downy Birdie Belly
That's amazing, KB
I hope Frances somehow remembers her sunblock.
She did! AND she climbed up the big mast! And saw two whales. So in the end she had a great day.
Thanks Burrell! Go for kids seeing whales and remembering their sunblock, too.
DH just got home and goggled at all the feather detail I captured. My day is validated!
Parental win! Ou had stashed sunscreen and taught her enough that she remembered. Win!
My adult fail was that food today consisted of two pieces of toast with smashed avocado and then checked on my boss's cat (work conference and she lives close) and ate a freaking cupcake. I don't care about the nutrition but throwing sugar on top of sinus and asthma meds? Howler monkey on crack for a while.
I've never had cats that did more than tolerate each other. Is I'd settle for Puppycat tolerating the actual puppy. Nope.
At this point, I just want my ears to stop popping every time I swallow or blow my nose.
I'd like mine to pop.
Trepanation sounds good. Also for my lungs except I think that's a sucking chest wound, soaky be not good.

Oh yay! Step one for growing up...sunscreen.
I have eaten half of a very large (local/organic/fancy) chocolate bar, and am very very tempted to just eat the rest of it. Even though I am not hungry and had dinner (and chocolate). But so tasty!!
I wanted dessert and then remembered there was a mini cannoli in the fridge! Win!
Toast with avo sounds good, but that's how I roll. But aren't you allergic? That does shift the pendulum a fair degree.
I think my kids are mostly taking care of themselves tonight, so I'm going to try to get a jump on my class prep before they have to go to bed.
