Thrive to spite them

It's not silly without the first date there wouldn't have been a marriage! It's important!!!

You would think so, but we've been married for 4 years, so something is wonky with the math.

Always Anti-fascist!

Wow, I'd love to meet someone I'm that eager to remember. I do have a date like that, here or there, but I don't dwell on them, because I'm not with that person.(I mean, it's hard to avoid one of them, because it was New Year's Eve...the only really cinematic one I ever had, to date, at least.)

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Ok, I may be in over my head with Harvey. He is obviously feeling a lot better. This is excellent. I am so very grateful for that. But the vet said to restrict his activity. I suppose I should call back to get clarification on how long. But in addition to getting out of his kennel (so far the twistie tie has worked, he has now figured out how to get around the laundry basket we place at the bottom of the stairs to keep him from traipsing up and down (and mostly from falling) during those times when he is out of the kennel. He has taken to launching himself off my lap from a relaxed pose. (I'd been catching him in the act of getting down so I could place him gently on the floor.) He also jumped off Daniel's desk when Daniel was not fast enough to stop him.

I've tried to interest him in playing, various toy wands and the laser pointer so he could burn off his energy in a more controlled fashion, while keeping him on the ground so he isn't jumping around and jarring his back on landings. So far he has not responded to my attempts. Any ideas on how to keep him from re-injuring himself. Cuz I'm wondering if my next step should be asking for a mild sedative or permission to dope him up with benedryl or some such.

Ann, that's a ferret.

WS, Buprenex is an effective painkiller and very safe for cats. Coincidentally, it's a very effective sedative that has worked very well when taking nervous cats on long car trips, so it may be worth looking into even if Harvey isn't in pain.

Fred, it looks like that is some powerful stuff. It's good to know it is there if we need it. I shall call the vet to see just how restricted Harvey's activity levels need to be, and if he really needs to endure five weeks of confined living in the kennel, ask about Buprenex.

I fail at today. The most recent reason being that I have locked my keys in the car and am now waiting for AAA to arrive.
