I'm at this weird state with my eyes - in order to see clearly far away (like when I'm driving) I can't see close up with my glasses, but it's not bad enough for bifocals at this point.
Plus I have this weird thing where they put a prism in one lens and it kind of helps but not alot. Currently not helping because the bottom of my computer monitor is doubled and slightly overlapping, at an angle (it's weird).
I made it through today wtihout any pain except back pain. I have one more dose of the antibiotics and it seems a combination of Azo, anti acid and D-Mannose plus the super plain diet is keeping things managable.
Cool perk of work is doing online learnings and a lot of those will entry you for a prize. I won something that wasn't useful (it's a logitech thing, you put this thing in your vent, then put your phone in the special case and the case and the thing are magnitized and they hold. Only they don't make it for the Note 4). Today I came home to find my Amazon package completely soggy (although the book inside was okay) and a mystery package. From Android! I got a box thing I can't figure out what it's for, some kind of 3D thing, a Lolipop, a $10 Google Play gift card and a thing to see if I get points for someting work related and a tote bag.
It's nice coming home to surprise stuff.
Also it didn't snow as much as I feared so the drive home was fine and no shoveling was required. It's mostly slush out there.
I finished setting up the scantrons, so I now have a stack of scantrons with a student's ID number coded into each one. Tomorrow, I'll code in the grades.
I just realized that one of my non-Buffista online friends lives about half an hour from the church that a friend from college is a minister at. He is married to one of my dearest friends. I
think
college friend's church is the same denomination as online friend's church, which is actually further away than the town she lives in. I'm taking the chance on being thought weird by mentioning this coincidence to each of them. Some of the things I love about my dear friend from college are traits she has in common with online friend. It would be serendipity if they met and became friends. Naturally I will not divulge personal info without permission if they have not already bumped into each other.
Argh. I'm in an annoyed-at-the-world mood. Several news stories this week that hit a couple of my triggers, and I'm spending too much time arguing with people about them in blog comments when I know that doing it is just going to end up getting to me, but, well, they're being wrong on the internet, and, argh. I need to stop reading that stuff.
Maybe I'll watch TV. Anyone who's seen the latest Supernatural episode (I think it's the latest -- the one that comes after "Girls Girls Girls"): is there anything in there that would set off sexual assault-related triggers? Some episodes of that show have had stuff, and I can usually handle it, but not tonight.
Actually, forget Supernatural. I'll watch A Charlie Brown Christmas.
edit: or maybe not, since Amazon won't load any videos.
Ended up with Queer as Folk, which might not be the best idea.
edit: OK, no, bad idea.
Boo hiss, Amazon. Cuteness is a fine cure for the stress of people being wrong on the internet.
Aparently I am the only person who works for this outfit who is willing to come to social events for all the group homes without being paid for it. Big social services non-profit that bought out the small company that used to run these homes has a policy of "no specific holiday parties" for multiple locations. Bosslady that used to run the smaller company every year hosted a delightful Christmas party for all the homes, to which everyone was invited - residents' families, all off-duty employees and their families. She hired a band, so there was singing and dancing. A great time was had by all, for decade. Then bosslady retired and sold the homes to the big outfit. People really missed the big Christmas party. They tried a few different ways of doing
something
- like having the houses host one or two others for a holiday gathering, that just wasn't the same. Last year they decided to try having a Chili Cook-off in December. See? not a Christmas party, so it honors the company's diversity policy. But it fills the need for a gathering of the larger group at this time of year. It's fun. (Not as purely delightful as former Bosslady's party, but it's way better than not trying. All the houses came to the cook-off tonight. I got to see all the people I serve, and a number of others I have gotten to know at other events. I also got to hang out with some coworkers I don't get to see very often. I feel sad for the morale of my coworkers in general that no one else wants to come to these things unless they absolutely have to.
Maybe they didn't realize it would be ok to come...
I'm watching Peter Pan. It's terrible, but snarking is fun.
If I can get someone to buy me a gift card and pay them back I could use that.
Typo, I am a Costco member and would be happy to do so. Profile addy good. Their prescription prices really are impressive.
My eyes see best with the mono vision contacts. Near and far, it is all good. Alas, my eyes seem weepy lately and I haven't been wearing them. I am switching between 2 pair of glasses, but the distance to my office monitors is going to force me to buy a 3rd pair because it is just too far away for my near glasses. Boo. I can hardly wait to have 3 pair on chains around my neck. Hope to get back in contacts again, or maybe find the courage for surgery. That seems unlikely.
I promise I only posted once!
