I'm just down the 405....
It's the hair.
It's the brain. And maybe the emotional unavailability.
I can see where it could get confusing there omnis, but not so much the emotionally unavailable part. Must be another BC.
Ugh, Hil, those are not good choices.
I meant to see it, because the previews made it look, essentially, like Hello Steph Here Is Your Family On The Screen Embrace The Dysfunction.
Oh, this is why I did NOT see it! I knew I'd come out of the movie furious and probably crying. Yes, I still have issues.
I love BC's Sherlock, but that's as much about loving Freeman's Watson and the way they play off each other.
Exactly this. I don't think I'd enjoy it as much if Freeman weren't playing Watson. The 'Batch isn't that interesting to me by himself.
I think the BBC Sherlock is too nasty, especially in an unthinking way. The original Holmes was fairly anti-social, but he was courteous and aware of other people. Plus the BBC's Moriarty is an active turn-off.
I think it was Steph who pointed out that the BBC Moriarty sucks and the Elementary Moriarty is a win, but then again the BBC Mycroft is great and Elementary Mycroft is a dud. So I guess with the secondary characters it's a toss-up.
So who's written the great Holmes mashup of everybody fic? I picture RDJ's Holmes punching people a lot. And Jude Law's Watson stabbing people--though Freeman's Watson could be shooting people, I don't object to that.
Cumberbatch is a helluva actor, but I've never found him attractive, except when he's playing Sherlock. I don't even know. Maybe it's the dark hair.
I am Not Pleased about him playing Richard III in Hollow Crown II: Royals Die Harder. He's a fine actor, he's just not who I want playing the bunchbacked toad. However, Sophie Okenedo as Margaret will be awesome.

She was excellent in an Australian miniseries,
The Slap.
(Oh! Bonny, if you're around, there's a recommendation for Australian television that you might enjoy.)
I was amazed at how completely unattractive he was in August Osage County.
What did you think of that movie? I meant to see it, because the previews made it look, essentially, like Hello Steph Here Is Your Family On The Screen Embrace The Dysfunction. (And I, of course, eat that shit up. I love seeing other dysfunctional families, even if they're fictional.)
It was very very very bleak but had good acting.
Plus the BBC's Moriarty is an active turn-off.
This truth! Also I've realized I just have a Thing for Sherlock Holmes. I LOVE Basil Rathbone in the role (and also find him hot, which is not a popular opinion). Never watched Elementary but maybe I should start.
Hm, I may need to buy one of those earflap hats for DW... She already has the smarts.
