You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

However, Sophie Okenedo as Margaret will be awesome.

She was excellent in an Australian miniseries, The Slap. (Oh! Bonny, if you're around, there's a recommendation for Australian television that you might enjoy.)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I was amazed at how completely unattractive he was in August Osage County.

What did you think of that movie? I meant to see it, because the previews made it look, essentially, like Hello Steph Here Is Your Family On The Screen Embrace The Dysfunction. (And I, of course, eat that shit up. I love seeing other dysfunctional families, even if they're fictional.)

It was very very very bleak but had good acting.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Plus the BBC's Moriarty is an active turn-off.

This truth! Also I've realized I just have a Thing for Sherlock Holmes. I LOVE Basil Rathbone in the role (and also find him hot, which is not a popular opinion). Never watched Elementary but maybe I should start.

Hm, I may need to buy one of those earflap hats for DW... She already has the smarts.

I've been collecting Sherlock Holmes' pastiches (as they're formally known in the publishing world) for years. AKA professional fan fiction. My favorites are the ones with BAMF!Watson, especially AccidentallyBAMF!Watson. Steven King did a Holmes story that hinges on Watson solving the crime when Holmes turns out to be violently allergic to cats.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Never watched Elementary but maybe I should start.

S1 needs about 3-4 episodes to get past the feeling of "this is just another police procedural with a rude tweaky British guy." But it gets SO GOOD. I was really dubious about a genderswapped Watson, but Lucy Liu just kills it as Watson. And Jonny Lee Miller's iteration of Sherlock is really different than Cumbermuffin's -- Miller's is a tweaky hyperkinetic speed-freaky version, but he's really excellent. t edit And the supporting cast -- mostly the NYPD who Sherlock works with -- are really good, too.

And what Elementary does with Moriarty is FUCKING AMAZING. Blew me the fuck away. S1 is worth it just for that (especially if you aren't spoiled), but it's really all-around good stuff.

Thrive to spite them

I haven't watched Elementary yet but I need to get it from netflix. I don't think it's streaming so I have to get it from dvd.

I had a crappy day today. I don't know what happened but around 1 pm I started feeling kind of bad, not horrible but a little bit of a headache and HOT. It's been warmer than the past few days so I just chalked it up to that.

I got to work and the first thing I did was guzzle a bottle of water and then it went down hill from there. Horrible headache, the light hurt, the sounds hurt, it was stabbing pain in my head, and it was hard for me to put coherent sentences togehter. Then I started to feel like I had to throw up (I never did just felt like it).

So I found my manager and asked to go home about 1/2 hour after I got to work and it took another half hour to find coverage and delegate some stuff to people.

I came home and started feeling better. I couldn't find my thermometer but Will came by, he bought one and I took my temp but that it was 5:00 and he was remarking about how hot I felt, but my temp was just under 99. I know it was higher.

Now I feel better, not as hot, a little bit of a headache, but I don't have the noise and the lights going on.

Plus I burst into tears at one point at work trying to leave, I didn't meant or want to but it was just so overwhelming.

askye, that sucks. I hope you feel better quickly!

I love BAMF!Watson! What's that King story? Can't believe I've never read it.

"The Doctor's Case" is a short story by American author Stephen King, originally published in The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, a 1987 centennial collection, and reprinted in his collection Nightmares & Dreamscapes. An audio-book of stories from Nightmares & Dreamscapes was read by Tim Curry.

I've got The New Adventures, which is where I first read it. There's a PDF of it online, but it's not very good quality, and I don't know its provenance.

derring do and swashbuckling and Holmes giving Watson looks of "Did you really just do that?" Published 1980.

I must clear out bookshelves so I can put my stuff out properly.
