Please forgive me breaking in, but I have a migraine question I need help with.

I've had one of the worst migraines I've ever had for the last few days. Last night, I honestly didn't know how to cope. This morning, SO much worse with fill in the blank, uncontrollable symptoms.

A friend come up to me on the street and asked what was wrong..."I can see it on your face"...and gave me the HUGE gift of recommending Exedrin Migraine.

Another friend went to the store to buy it for me and she said that she could 'see me recovering before her eyes.'

I can't even believe that the pain is gone.

Here is my question...do I take more than one dose, or do I wait to see if the pain comes back?

There are major cautions around injury to the stomach, etc. which I have not experienced yet, BUT it is still hard for me to look at the computer screen, noise is still a little uncomfortable, etc.

How do I know when the danger has passed?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

bonny, if you're still having the noise and eye strain symptoms, I would take your next scheduled dose, with food to avoid the stomach upset.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a gift for a boy starting college? He's going to still be living at home so the usual care package stuff doesn't really apply.

The chance of stomach bleeding is tiny for someone who's only taking it for a day or so at a time at the recommended dosage. I'm not a migraine expert, but I'd say take it every 4 hours today, bearing in mind that it has caffeine.

I second this. You want to get that migraine totally gone.

Thanks sj. I definitely need to get some kind of soft, bland food to take the medication with. The apple worked out but is not optimal for calming the stomach.

I wonder if this is right...or advisable...the box says to not take more than two caplets in 24 hours.

That makes me super nervous, as it has been just 4 hours and I'm certain the symptoms are not well and truly gone.

What do you all do for migraine symptoms?

I feel like I've just joined a club that doesn't really want me.

Total cross-post.

So, taking more often might not be a problem?

I should add:

250mg acetaminophen, 250mg aspirin, 65mg caffeine per caplet and I've had two.

Huh. There is no reason you can't take 2 caplets every 6 hours. (Bearing in mind the caffeine component -- it might keep you awake.)

Bless you, Steph.

Honestly, awake and not in pain is totally okay with me.

Once medicated, I retreat to a dark room and try to sleep it off. I've also been known to throw things at my kids if they sleep above a whisper.

Sending no more migraine~ma your way.
