Congrats, Aims!
I suspect the fact that a lot of y'all are introverts probably doesn't help the whole "would I want visitors in the hospital" bit.
This is true. I don't like most people in my home. Much less a hospital room.

True, but there are likely a lot more introverts when it comes to socializing when feeling and looking like crap.
Update on the judgey you-all-suck-because-you-aren't-visiting-someone-in-the-hospital-and-I-think-you-should friend:
I did reply to her post and said, fairly succinctly, that I was sorry to hear she thought I was a bad friend for not visiting, but my understanding was that ICU visiting was restricted AND because the patient has been gravely ill, I was giving them their privacy at a time it seemed they needed it, especially because I don't know them well enough to feel like I should insert myself into a very stressful time, and that it was never because I don't care about the patient.
Several mutual friends followed with "Yeah, what Steph said. We don't know [Patient] and [Husband] very well, but we're praying for them," etc.
Judgey friend didn't reply to any of those.
Unfortunately, the woman who is in the hospital is doing worse -- she improves a little and then has a fairly bad setback. Tim is going to call the husband, because they've known each other for longer than I have.
Still annoyed at judgey friend, but, again, fuck her.

Thanks, I'll take a look. I haven't tried them yet.
I checked ebay, and though they had about a dozen of my fave, none were in my shade. I decided to risk buying one called "Nude" anyway. Hopefully it'll be nude enough to be close, and that'll hold me over for a bit as I begin the quest anew for a replacement.

Truth. Even my mom, who REALLY wants visitors in the hospital, doesn't want anyone but my brother or me those first days after a procedure or in the ICU.
So, I went to an open house at school last weekend and it looks like I'm going to go for a Master's Degree. MA, Human Behavior - not quite as business-y as my last one (BS, Organizational Behavior), but it's one of the 2 paths that my BS leads toward (and after talking with the Dept Chair, I just didn't feel like the Master in Organizational Leadership, the other path, sounded right for me). I was supposed to start the first week of September, but I think I'm going to postpone to October. I'm just not in the right brainspace yet, plus I'm pretty sure I better replace my computer (which was already pretty aged when I got the BS three and a half years ago) before I get sucked into that vortex of school+work+nothing else again. People think it's weird that I'm doing this degree with no particular goal except the degree itself - but I like school, I'd be the first in my family to get an advanced degree (I was second for a Bachelor's), and work pays for almost all of it, so I feel like it would be silly of me not to take advantage of the opportunity. Now I just have to get used to the idea of reading textbooks and never turning on my TV on a weeknight again.
ETA: Looks like a good response, Steph. And yes, "friend" should probably STFU. Hope the friend in the hospital makes better progress soon.
edited again to remove accidental HTML. But now I know how to make a ¬ - though I can't imagine what I'd need it for.
was it a position for an instructional designer/technologist with Continuing Studies? We've been posting new positions right and left. Leanne just posted this one yesterday.
Yes, SailAway, the one you linked to is the one I just applied to yesterday. If you have any info on the position or the people who might be involved in filling it that you'd be willing to share, I'd love to hear it, please. (profile addy's good)

Much job~ma your way, Calli!
And Steph, I hope your friend continues towards a stronger recovery.
Got it--thanks, SailAway!
Sail! Good to see your pixels. You should come out to my Twin Lakes place some weekend.
