Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

sj, you will be terribly embarrassed if you have to wear the outfit you travel in every day of your trip! Go put some others into some luggage! Shoo!

I need to do errands. Also to work out. ...oh, and do some work, too, since Monday I have a super early flight, and have stuff due that I haven't yet done. Um.

But first I have to share: my project manager is driving us nuts. For so many reasons, but it is fueled by the fact that I know that deep down, she is a stone cold BITCH. See as proof this story, from my coworker, which is the sort of thing that wouldn't even OCCUR to me to do, much less actually DO: So, PM only recently got promoted, until then she was the same job as us. So last year at some point she was at a university location where there's lots of studies going on, for a different project. Because she was also on this project, she knew Coworker J was supposed to be there the same day for our project. It gets to be 9:15 or so, and she doesn't see Coworker J. She's not working with the same people at the site as J is, but sees one of them, and says "Isn't J supposed to be here today?" Person says "Oh, yeah, not sure where she is". Rather than assume "Maybe J is running a few minutes late" or "Maybe person forgot J was flying in this morning and won't be here until 10" or something, she decides she should do something about this. What might be your instinct, if you felt you NEEDED to do something--maybe call J and check? (Which I still think is a bit much--the answer will either be "I'm on my way but late" or "that was when I was planning to get there step off", and very unlikely to be "OMG thank you I slept through my alarm and only you have saved me"). NO. Bitch calls J's MANAGER (not the project manager, which might be a "hey, can you confirm if J is supposed to be here/do you know something") to say "OMG, I'm SO WORRIED, J is NOT HERE YET, can you FIND HER?". Seriously??? So ridiculous (apparently J was just running late and got in a few minutes later). Therefore I know she is a backstabbing bitch and can never trust her.

...I was on a teleconference this morning. She bugs me.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

You have my sympathies, meara. Bitch, indeed.

Our wings are not tired.

Sorry about the work stresses all! I'm not going to add mine to the list, but they are there too. Why oh why are we required to work for a living. Don't like this deal at all.

Enjoy the administration of justice, o_a.

I am a sick pup. Stupid flying on airplanes sitting next to sick people. The lady next to me went through a bunch of tissues. I should have moved, and really could have, but I didn't know about the empty seats in the back until late in the flight. Now I don't want to spend time with mom because she should be exposed. And I feel guilt over the time I already spent with her before I knew how sick I was. I'm hoping that it is allergies or something. Wah.

I hate that I can't talk about the case!!!

I hate that I can't ask questions of the witnesses!!!

So juror #2 didn't show. Alt juror #2 is now juror #2. An HOUR later, original juror #2 walks in to court and the bailiff escorts him right out. They tried calling, but both numbers were disconnected.

There. Didn't talk about case.

Do you get fined or something if you do that? Because that's just uncool. t edit (Showing up late, I mean. Not escorting him out. Escorting him out is cool.)

No clue. We are all curious. Does he go back to pool? Fined? Restart jury duty? Judge didn't say contempt of court or anything.

Oh. Speaking of judge. There is no gavel. Very disappointed. Wanted to hear various whacks of it. Nope. Doesn't even look like one is up there. I feel robbed!

There should totally be a gavel. Looking forward to when you can tell your trial tail.

Mine was a long while ago, but loads of fun. For me anyway.

Compassionately intolerant

Big hugs and soothing wishes for all the work stress. Ugh, it all sucks so hard.

Having said that, I feel so fortunate!

My jury duty over the last two weeks has consisted of nightly phone calls to the US District Court of the District to be told that there was no jury selection for the next day.

Phew!

I've never been called for this particular court...I DO get a summons to the District District Court every two years and TWO DAYS, on the dot...so this one was particularly refreshing. A lawyer buddy says very few cases in US DC OF DC every go to trial.

I'm super curious as to why I was drawn on the new pool.

On a food note, an old friend (worked together in 1989) took me to a Balkan tapas restaurant. BALKAN. I would never have chosen that particular cuisine but it was amazing. Crazy good. And, thank goodness the friend paid.

I can recommend Balkan tapas, though I somehow doubt that is common option anywhere but here.

On the whole, it's very interesting. It hit at a good time with work. So I'm not missing much. Short commute. Out by five. And I get to hear stories, which I love!! Thankfully it's not a capital case. Except for waking up early (for me), and going thru security, it's been great.

(In general, going thru security is always a pain for me)
