sj, I hope all that helps, and that seeing someone at Urgent Care puts his mind at ease about the medication dose.

This Saturday is the wake. I haven't seen some of the people who said they'd be there in a while, but it's going to hurt.

Today I tried to take Hubby's drug stash in to the police dept., but while I knew the city had gone to a four-day work week, somehow I thought the police department would be considered a major public service and would be open. It's not. The cops are out and about, of course, but nobody's manning the desk. So I have to wait till I have a weekday off that's not a major holiday to take care of that.

I'm about to go into the bedroom, with the air conditioning and my new disk of RDJ's Sherlock Holmes to take a non-sentimental look at his clothes and decide which are donatable and which have been worn to pieces.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

How did the sorting go, Connie? Going through someone else's stuff can be rough.

Oh Connie, I hope the sorting went as you would have it and that the wake is somehow more freeing than hurtful.

One little bit of good news in the world...One of our walkers opened a door today and a non-client dog (don't get me started on that aspect of it) leapt over her foot and went tearing down the street.

It's a 4 lb Yorkie, about which, we had zero information except the name Coco and the assumption that it was a girl. (That turned out to not be true and I've never heard of a male Coco!!)

The pet care manager who is an ongoing pain in my backside blew the whole thing off. "I can't think of anything we need to do about it." Seriously. An innocent creature is running scared and you are off duty? Putz.

I jumped on the phone and internet and by the grace of all things technical, found the little guy many miles away, being cared for by an absolute angel of a man who, frankly, was a little disappointed that he didn't get to keep the doggy over night.

He was so KIND. And worried about every aspect of the little guy's well being.

He would not take any reward or appreciation, though we are TOTALLY sending him a gift.

In parting I said, "Go. Sleep the sleep of heroes my friend."

Sigh. Sometimes miracles do happen.

eta: I forgot to say that, as I was picking Coco up, the rescuer was googling me to make sure my picture verified my identity. He didn't want to give the dog up to just anyone! Now, THAT is thorough!

Aww, that is good news, bonny, and a good human!

I've been clearing out his side of the bed. Finding all his little toys and gadgets. Passing judgement on keeping, donating, or throwing out. Remembering him buying things or making them or what he was going to do with them when he got home.

It's just pain, just aftershocks. I know, just. But the only way out is through, and damn, the man never threw anything away.

edit: and damn, I'm pissed at the universe.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Connie, I'm sorry. It's so hard.

bonny, that is a good human! I'm glad he found Coco.

Right now, the biggest annoyance in my world is a bully cat who runs from one food dish to the next to push the other cats away from the food. He also responds with fear-aggression to my old Leo, even when Leo isn't trying to fight. There's plenty of food, there's Feliway everywhere, there are plenty of cat-friendly spaces, I play with them and keep the litter boxes clean. I don't know what to do to calm this cat down.
