Congrats on Employee of the Quarter+ !! That was quick. Didn't you just start the job around Thanksgiving?

Thrive to spite them

I started in late July/earl August.

I got employee for the quarter at the last quarterly meeting we had. I kind of had it my head I wanted to be named at the next (meaning this meeting) and I got it. Some of the recent changes I think kinda suck, especially in terms of people who lost their jobs in the re-org. But overall I like working there and I'm trying to figure out a way I can move up officially or unofficially by finding ways I can learn stuff/cross train.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Sean: it's not you (tho if you find yourself 4 or 5 disaster roomates down the road, you may want to start looking into more in-depth screening procedures). Roomates don't have to be friends, but everyone does need to be able to live up to basic elements of social contract (paying rent and utilities being clause #1.) Sadly, there are an awful lot of people out there who aren't up to the task of being a responsible human being...and those people tend to find themselves frequently looking for a new place to live, and thus being more densely present in the potential-roomate pool than folks looking to share their living space would like. I keep knocking on wood that I can afford to live alone. Finding someone suitable for home-sharing is really, really challenging.

I am glad it's going so well for you at work, askye.

That is a brilliant observation.

The car that they sold was a 2008 with full touring package, around 56,xxx miles, for $12,xxx. The one they do have is a 2007 with full touring package, 33,xxx miles, but listed at $17, 988.

That does seem like a rather large jump, for a year older car, even with fewer miles. Is it like, "Toyota Certified" or something that the other one wasn't?

Apparently, it can't be more than a few years old to be "Toyota Certified", and 07 & 08 is too old. Nope, they are jacking the cost because of the low miles. Although the internet gal did let loose one piece of information, that indicated they initially price high, to see if anyone is stupid enough to pay it, and then they lower the price. The previous car was originally priced high as well, and then advertised as dropping in price a few thousand. Ah, the game of car dealerships. It's a dance. But it looks like you can get a price on par with Edmunds "actual value", where as Carmax and AutoNation, with the "no haggle" pricing, seems to have higher prices, with no hope of getting them lowered.

Ugh. I bought mine (lo these many years ago) at CarMax, because I hated the idea of haggling. But there aren't any out here, so...who knows. Though Costco apparently has new car prices that it has arranged for members, but I doubt they do used cars.

Our wings are not tired

The other thing that can happen on the used lots which makes no sense at all is that if they overpaid for the car on the trade-in to make the sale on a new car, then when the trade-in initially hits the used car lot, they will leave it priced high to try to make up the loss they took to close the deal on the other car.

Found another one, up near NoiseDesign. Not sure it has back up cam or bluetooth. but it does have eco mode and EV mode, and it's a 2010! Those buttons will help save fuel!
