Sean: it's not you (tho if you find yourself 4 or 5 disaster roomates down the road, you may want to start looking into more in-depth screening procedures). Roomates don't have to be friends, but everyone does need to be able to live up to basic elements of social contract (paying rent and utilities being clause #1.) Sadly, there are an awful lot of people out there who aren't up to the task of being a responsible human being...and those people tend to find themselves frequently looking for a new place to live, and thus being more densely present in the potential-roomate pool than folks looking to share their living space would like. I keep knocking on wood that I can afford to live alone. Finding someone suitable for home-sharing is really, really challenging.
Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I am glad it's going so well for you at work, askye.

That is a brilliant observation.
The car that they sold was a 2008 with full touring package, around 56,xxx miles, for $12,xxx. The one they do have is a 2007 with full touring package, 33,xxx miles, but listed at $17, 988.
That does seem like a rather large jump, for a year older car, even with fewer miles. Is it like, "Toyota Certified" or something that the other one wasn't?

Apparently, it can't be more than a few years old to be "Toyota Certified", and 07 & 08 is too old. Nope, they are jacking the cost because of the low miles. Although the internet gal did let loose one piece of information, that indicated they initially price high, to see if anyone is stupid enough to pay it, and then they lower the price. The previous car was originally priced high as well, and then advertised as dropping in price a few thousand. Ah, the game of car dealerships. It's a dance. But it looks like you can get a price on par with Edmunds "actual value", where as Carmax and AutoNation, with the "no haggle" pricing, seems to have higher prices, with no hope of getting them lowered.

Ugh. I bought mine (lo these many years ago) at CarMax, because I hated the idea of haggling. But there aren't any out here, so...who knows. Though Costco apparently has new car prices that it has arranged for members, but I doubt they do used cars.
The other thing that can happen on the used lots which makes no sense at all is that if they overpaid for the car on the trade-in to make the sale on a new car, then when the trade-in initially hits the used car lot, they will leave it priced high to try to make up the loss they took to close the deal on the other car.
Found another one, up near NoiseDesign. Not sure it has back up cam or bluetooth. but it does have eco mode and EV mode, and it's a 2010! Those buttons will help save fuel!

Sean, there really are a lot of dicks out there.(Not to say that every aspect of living with anyone is total joy.) Ginger, I hope someone who is not a dick(Or maybe like the Pembleton of insurance, where he seems like a dick because he makes underwriters cry a lot) comes up with something to help you through this.
Ginger, I'm so sorry to hear of the suck and hope, as has been said several times, that a champion steps forward.
Sean, I've had one terrible roommate and am so grateful I no longer do. I hope your luck changes!
I'm on the horns of a dilemma post-election, and I could use some...I dunno, reality checking?
A phone call will surely come tomorrow from the Board of Elections, asking for my comments on staffing. I am not sure what to say about two staff members.
One poll working was accused, by another worker, of being 'high' all day. He was a bit erratic, did not smell of anything I could discern and was great about just doing what needed doing without needing my guidance.
He was accused of perhaps 'smoking crack'. I hate to sound totally podunk, but does smoked crack smell of anything? I would assume that crack or meth would have a chemical residue.
The other worker is developmentally disabled. It was obvious going in, so I gave her the best job I could but still ended up getting 5 irate comments on the day and 2 subsequent, irate comments in the neighborhood.
What can I say?
It feels like we live in a culture...in this neighborhood...where everyone wants life to be totally bump-free and where eccentricity is tolerated but diminished capacity is not.
I don't want to say that the Board of Elections should not hire her. She did the best she could and, seriously, no blood was let. She stamped her feet and was loud, but immediately calmed down when asked to. I imagine she has been through a coping training, based on her reactions to everything.
At the same time, on an incredibly stressful day, I don't really have time to deal with people being hysterical over someone whose worst crime is being different from them in a way that is apparently socially acceptable to rage over.
I truly don't know what to tell the Board.
What would you do?
