Natter 71: Someone is wrong on the Internet
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Zen, that's exactly why I sold my elliptical on Facebook last week. I didn't want any strangers coming to my house. At least I know everyone who reads my Facebook feed. Maybe try that? It worked out well for me. I'm thinking of trying it again, after seeing a friend sell all of the furniture in her apartment on Facebook in 12 hours getting ready to leave for the Peace Corps.
And you could make a list of only-locals, if you don't want to bother others with it.
I would just email back and ask what he wants to know, or just ignore it altogether.
Or yeah, what brenda said. If the guy doesn't meet your terms, wait for someone who does.
Yeah, when I've sold on craigslist, I just email back anyone who wants me to call. Although if you'r sketchy about strange men in your home, you might want to hear a voice first. Or, like they said, try friends and friends-of-friends.
I think *70 is the code to block your number from caller ID, but it would be best to check your local carrier, just in case it is region specific or something.
I'm pretty sure there is now a charge for that function. Though, it would be totally worth it in the case of creepy people.
Yipes, I hope Grace is feeling OK and her O2 gets back to normal. How scary for all of you!
And ita, much empathy. Call me if I can help with anything.
Yeah--you can manually one time block your number--I'd google it , but I'm on a tablet, in the ER, and in a foul mood.
I ended up caving. I called my manager in tears and told her what still needed to be done, and that I'd been working for over 24 hours straight, and I was done and I had to stop.
And then I sat in the ER waiting room for, what, three hours? At least I have one of the nurses who's totally on my side. I have no idea about the docs.
Speaking of numbers, if we do anything outside of the norm, we need to get director and CIO approval. Which is my job to get, as PM. I don't want to text, leave messages and then fucking get the CIO off her treadmill on a Sunday morning.
Anyway, I feel radically inadequate, because this was a big deal, and I bailed to sit in a waiting room.
Grr.
Oh, ita, I was really hoping that you weren't posting because you were already getting good treatment. I'm so sorry, that must be frustrating as hell on top of the pain, both the work itself and having to bail on it.
Oxygen~ma to Grace, I hope the root cause can be found and dealt with easily.
It's my late husband's birthday today, I think I will observe it with a chocolate covered peppermint Joe Joe and some Darjeeling. He'd've appreciated that.
And then I'll go to work. I figured out that I've worked an average of 13 hours a week so far this year and it has kicked my ass! Good thing I started with part-time.
Isn't *69 for calling someone back?
yes, urgh, wrong number. I meant *67. If you dial it before the number, it will block your number for that call. Or the google voice is a good suggestion.
Yeah, it's *67 then dial his number
Well, all this rain is supposed to turn to snow tonight, and with the SO sick, I have no idea what that's going to mean for classes tomorrow. I'm planning on going, but I'm going to be a much more cautious driver than the SO would be. It was already pretty slick in the mud today just getting to the grocery.
I tried to take advantage of a lull in the rain to haul some firewood, but I left it too late and only got half a rick done. Which is fine, it's not like it's going to be a long storm. But still, I'd have been happier if I had gone out there when I should have.
I did get one of the cars cleaned out, though. The other one I'm not too sure what to do with.
I think it's time to start chili, though. I wasn't going to do it until Tuesday, but I've got the venison thawed already, and the SO is ravenous, so maybe it's best to get a big, filling meal going.
