We have freezing rain here today. I took our housemate to the train at 6:30 this morning and it was drizzling and warmish. 2 hours later I head out, thinking "Hm, it's gotten colder" just as my foot goes out from under me on the walk. Hooray for fat butts, they provide some cushioning on falling on them, but that much weight going down hurts. I nearly had to crawl to the car. And the walks at work were nicely salted, but the parking lot itself is lumpy hard snow and ice chunks, now evenly coated with frozen rain. One shouldn't need ice axes to get across the parking lot.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Damn, Hec that is so awful and scary. Much safety~ma for Emmett and his friends.

Yay, Amy! Congratulations!

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Hec, how awful! That's so frightening.

Scrappy, I don't think I ever said. I'm so sorry about your layoff. Much job ~ma to you.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Congrats, Amy!

Yikes, Hec! Very disturbing.

I totally missed the setup for the ten hundred words discussion yesterday, if that wasn't already obvious.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Maybe we should team up! And...be unemployable!

We should totally team up! And...um...write about being unemployable! And then proofread it!

The nasty truth is, I'm sick of editing. I no longer care about the Oxford comma, nor do I care if the sentences are elegant and concise. I'm still holding firm on correct spelling and subject/verb agreement, and sentences should totally have a period at the end, but that's about all the give-a-shit I've got left, anymore.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hooray, Amy! Burble away.

Hec, jeez. Scary, very scary.

Trust my rage

So, what is vertical writing? Because I still have no idea.

Also, that Hillary .gif was kick ass.

Also, Hec, yikes! Very disturbing!!

Man, Hec, that is awful! Also, I think of it as one of the "safer" BART stations: it's hardly West Oakland or Fruitvale (ironically the station I use the most frequently).

I totally missed the setup for the ten hundred words discussion yesterday, if that wasn't already obvious.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Sweet cuppin' cakes, Hec, that's horrible and scary. I'm so glad the kids are (mostly) okay.

In other news, I'm having a hell of a day.

I'm an hour late to work because I spent some time on Facebook this morning.

My work computer is broken again.

And I was on FB this morning because I woke up to learn that an online friend of more than a decade died in her sleep this week. She was, at most, 37. (Dana, Shrift--if you hadn't heard, it was Sabine, from YV.)

Fuck this day.
