Ugh, Suela. I can't believe how you, and the people who clearly know you and the quality of your work and actively want you there, are being painfully slow-motion screwed by this whole miserable process. So totally demoralizing for everyone (and, when things like this happen and the vet-with-preference comes in, I'm sure it sucks for the vet too; even in a maximum-discretion workplace, it's not hard to suss out when everyone misses your predecessor and wishes s/he were still here).
And huge vibes to you, Sparky, and your entire department - and what the fuck alien dictionary are the higher-ups using for their definition of "feel good"?
I won't say the temp here. I will say I love my city.
I did have to wear a jacket today, though. So it's a bit colder than the weekend.
I have become completely addicted to yoghurt with granola in it. I don't like granola as cereal, because I have to wait until it's all smoosh before I can eat it, and I might as well start with muesli. But good yoghurt and granola all soft--nummy.
Someone was talking to me yesterday talking about how employees were incentivised because you're rewarded for good work, and penalised for bad, and I had to laugh. I don't know if they're lucky, or they're still in school, but...come on now.
In case anyone needs pure mindless consumerist distraction, or a preemptive reward for what looks to be a hellish day, I cannot recommend Zulily enough today - look for the women's shoe sale called "Spring Step & Fly Flot," which is a horrible name but the shoes are all gorgeous and Fluevoggy, with quite a few that look extremely Scrappyish and Leeish and sarameggish and two pairs of extremely Jilli boots.
The bad news from one of our plants the other day was a fatality. Not uncommon in our industry, but really rough and the first one in 2-3 years, I think. bah.
There are a million pieces moving of high level meetings and travel. Several people are out of town and I feel like I am playing in a giant game of telephone/email tag with half conversations going around and people responded over each other because of delays in receiving messages.
Oh msbelle, that's a rough one.

Luckily, they don't sell many shoes in my size. Even having just sold 4 pairs of shoes on ebay, I have way too many, and am going to try not to buy any more this year.
I am supposed to be doing my self assessment for this year's evaluation, and I don't wanna.

I am laughing bitterly.
Signed, the worker who was told she wasn't being considered for a new and more interesting position because "it would take two people to replace you."

Hah. This is exactly why I had to threaten to quit, to get anyone to pay attention to my desire to be on a different project.
I am reminded of the button anonymously left on my desk when I worked at the Looniversity: "Remember, the better you do, the more they expect."
I have heard rumors that admins will be held hostage in this department and "not be allowed" to move to other departments when there are positions, but I am not sure that the source that info is reliable. A test of that will come soon enough and if it is in fact the case, then I will start looking outside the company hard and fast. No way am I loosing all ability to have a say in my work situation within a company.
Ginger, does that give you a good place for salary or vaction negotiations? Are you in a position to leverage?
