One of my gay friends who, prior to the election was posting all over Facebook about how Romney was the candidate who would bring about "real change" (for the better, one assumes) in America, posted a picture today that said "A Million Americans watched the inauguration...only 14 missed work!"
Rather than ask that shithead why he has a problem with the first POTUS to indicate that he is in favor of my friend having equal rights, I just unfriended him, because FUCK HIM. (Why *that* post and none of the other shitty ones during the election? Maybe because Kat and Nanita were at the inauguration and damn well missed work. Maybe because I just hit my tipping point. Or maybe just FUCK HIM, that's why.)
[edited to at least get my numbers right]
people, I was at lunch with people who, while not birthers, said that Obama would not answer questions about his birth certificate or produce anything for over a year after the first election. That's not right, right?!?! and then one of them said that the first one that was produced was proven to be a forgery. not true again, right?!?! why people so crazy.
Oh god, I almost blacked out this morning listening to some Republicans-on-the-street on NPR talking about the birth certificate thing. STILL????? And some other bullshit that I have blocked from my memory.
"A Million Americans watched the inauguration...only 14 missed work!"
This would work a lot better as a snark about unemployment numbers if the inauguration hadn't happened on a holiday weekend.
I think assuming the snark is about unemployment numbers is being too generous.
Jesse, I believe that person on NPR was a lady from TX. I swear to dog.
Yeah, I found the piece and they were all from Texas. Nice job by the reporter trying to create some good feelings among the NPR listenership by opening with two little boys baking with their grandmother.
And I remembered this was the other quote that I flipped out over:
Recipients of government assistance need to be looked at as victims who've been entrapped by policies the Democrats have created over the last 40 or 50 years, and it has robbed them of the opportunity to be participants in this fabulous American dream.
Because I am SO OVER people not getting that big companies and rich people generally get an enormous shitload of assistance from the government.
Here's the transcript: [link]
can you link to the piece, I could not find it searching on npr.
I just did! Right up there^^^
Getting my nails done the other day, there were two women fussing about how Obama was going to be sworn in with Lincoln's and Martin Luther King's bibles and how that was hypocritical since Obama doesn't go to church. What?
Luckily I was almost done cause I didn't want to hear what else they had to say.
Bed bug update - still no pest control guy. I know I need to be out for at least 4 hours after his visit, especially with my asthma. GET THIS OVER WITH NOW, please.
