Getting my nails done the other day, there were two women fussing about how Obama was going to be sworn in with Lincoln's and Martin Luther King's bibles and how that was hypocritical since Obama doesn't go to church. What?
Luckily I was almost done cause I didn't want to hear what else they had to say.
Bed bug update - still no pest control guy. I know I need to be out for at least 4 hours after his visit, especially with my asthma. GET THIS OVER WITH NOW, please.
That's super annoying, Suzi.
thank you. oh yeah the other thing she said, how no one has come forward who went to college with him. crazymaking. We have entire articles in my alumni magazine dedicated to his time there with all these people quoted about classes with him and being his roomate and yada yada yada.
I think I've follow-backed someone on twitter who's just going to annoy me.
One of my relatives liked some dumb info graphic saying if Obama really cared he'd do something about the debt!
Like the Republicans aren't obstructing in every way possible.
oh good, I found that idiot woman's email. I think I will email her. she's an embarrassment.
Hugs to msbelle and dirty stinkeyes to the lunch people (seriously, how are they not birthers? If they think he's hiding stuff and his first birth cert was a proven forgery but they're not birthers, what on earth do they think an actual birther is?).
Also a 44-year-old stinkeye to ita !'s neuro, and to the asshats from the weekend.
And, damn, do I want to visit that Norwegian tunnel of toasted cheese.
Glamcookie - Taskrabbit, maybe? Or else buy Strix a plane ticket out and ply her with girly drinks and sugar scrubs.
Sue: ENVY.
And, speaking of fashion blogs and the occasional mean on TLo (and unpleasantly intersecting with all the inaugural FB and IRL nastiness everyone's been talking about for the last hour), the comments on their POTUS inauguration In or Out post about Beyonce's black velvet gown are making me twitchy - a fair number of people simply voting her dress out because it was too evening-gowny for a daytime event, too red carpet instead of churchy, not enough like what Aretha wore in 2008, but a lot of people going on about how tacky and tawdry and narcissistic it was, her ratty extensions and whore-y eye makeup and one person going way off the rails about how the atrocity of Beyonce is exactly why conservative Americans want to secede from Obama's America, what with the flagrant black trashy sensibilities on display all over the place, and it's making me want to pretty much punch everyone in the head.
I keep looking at the pictures of her and all I can see is a lovely young woman with nicely done hair, wearing a long long gown that, granted, doesn't hide the fact that she has a big curvy ass, but also covers every inch of flesh from tips of the toes to collarbone and is BLACK FREAKIN' VELVET, i.e., NO MATERIAL MORE FORMAL, NONE, NONE AT ALL (not to mention, considering her usual sensibilities, pretty damn subdued. And all the bitching about how the dress was modified and uglied up from the runway version, but I can't see a damn bit of difference aside from the fact that her version has been sized to fit a post-childbirth body considerably curvier than the runway model's.
An evening gown at a daytime event that's patriotic rather than show-businessy, fine, but the vitriol and the rage at her daring to be extension-wearing and ass-possessing in public are extremely queasy.
None of which I quite dare to say over there, so instead I'm vomiting it up over here. Definitely giving me very deeply mixed feelings about that community, though.
eta: Thank GOD. I checked back in, and the off-the-rails "This is why we can't abide You People" comment has been removed. Not keen on the fact that it's been completely erased as if it'd never been there (my personal preference would be to leave a "This comment has been deleted by a moderator" note as a warning to other fuckwits and trolls, rather than pretend that posts like that Never Happen Here), but whatever. At least it's gone, hopefully buried at some digital crossroads with a stake through its heart.
Sophia, I don't think I even follow you! Perhaps you're there under some PSEUDONYM?
oh yeah the other thing she said, how no one has come forward who went to college with him. crazymaking. We have entire articles in my alumni magazine dedicated to his time there with all these people quoted about classes with him and being his roomate and yada yada yada.
Oh yeah, that. I realize PBS is a Tool of The Government, but there were plenty of former classmates from every possible school in the Frontline show about the two candidates. Don't get me started.
