Zoe: What's that, sir? Mal: Freedom, is what. Zoe: No, I meant what's that? Mal: Oh. Yeah. Just step around it. I think something must've been living in here.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Way to go Fox (local affiliate, not Fox News). While the president was being sworn in they were showing a commercial for duct tape, and cut in just in time for the last bit.

So Borowitz wasn't so far off... [link]

People here need to stop opening the loading door. It's all just open hallway from there to my office and it's too damn cold!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Who here follows fashion blogs (other than Jilli's, I mean)? If so, which ones? Why? What do you look for in a fashion blog? In a fashion blogger? What do you get out of them? What makes one bad?

I'm also wondering what being a fashion blogger is like--how often do they update with outfits? How many of them get stuff from vendors? It seems like it would be incredibly exhausting, never mind the pressure.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Hil, depending on how good you are, it's actually a little easier drunk -- speaking as a barely-adequate-at-best singer, I find that a lot of oldish English drinking songs have embarrassingly long gleeful baying-at-the-moon notes that clench my sober gut (and diaphragm, lungs, and vocal cords) in terror as I get close to them. Falling-down drunk is no good, but just a little looseness and sloppiness with a fine overlay of booze-induced fearlessness does wonders for opening everything up and letting the sound just flow, instead of knotting everything up into a strangled little wheeze.

Also, an entirely sober but deliriously cake-bingeing happy first big boy birthday to Sammy!

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I have today as a holiday and it's too cold to go outside if I don't need to. I slept in and made breakfast burritos, enough for tomorrow's breakfast. I cancelled my TiVo service, washed dishes, and just culled the left half of my closet.

Still to do: cull right side of closet, sweeping, mopping the kitchen, and cleaning the bathroom.

We should have our home internet set up again by tomorrow night, at which time I predict a sudden drop in productivity.

Our wings are not tired.

I feel like such a fan girl working from home today to watch the events. So glad the sun is shining on the inauguration. Love the first lady's new bangs. Also, wow how many flags did they have out there?

Jealous of the people there. Which Buffistas are there? Kat and Javachik, others?

I follow two -- Go Fug Yourself and Tom and Lorenzo (formerly ProjectRungay.com)

I look for snarky commentary, being willing to call out a bad outfit on a well liked person, and good writing. It's bad if they take themselves (or their readers) too seriously, or do not take into account the mixture of "fashion" and popular taste. They can't be snobs about it, and must be willing to praise cheap/ordinary stuff and criticize expensive/fashion icon stuff as necessary.

Neither of my blogs get merch, they do all of their judging from photos.

Technically Corporette is a fashion blog, I suppose. But I follow for the commentary, not the fashion (as do most, I think). It updates 2-3 times a day, weekdays. I follow a few others on occasion who are more what you're thinking of (like Already Pretty and You Look Fab) but not on a daily basis--more just when I run out of Internet.

man, I have not looked at Go Fug in a long time. I think I know how I will be spending my evening.

brillig

I thought Tom and Lorenzo--and their commentariat--got a little too mean occasionally. Saying something doesn't work is one thing, being vicious about it is something else.
