Somehow, instead of needing bifocals, my nearsightedness is getting better? My prescription has changed for the better 3 times now.

mr. flea is approaching the point of bifocals. He is not pleased. (He's postponed the inevitable by switching from the iPod Touch to the iPad Mini.)

Oh, me too! Or, well, my nearsightedness has leveled off, but my astigmatism is getting worse, so I need an overall lower prescription.

Yeah, basically you're supposed to wait until your vision stabilizes pretty much (usually in your 20s or early 30s) and before you need bifocals.

Stupid astigmatism seems to rule me out as a candidate (from my brief review of one WebMD article). Glasses forever, I guess.

Not necessarily--depends on how bad the astigmatism is. I had a -2 astigmatism, but he said it wouldn't be an issue and he could fix it during surgery--and I do recall him poking at my eye extra in the spots he said were astigmatism. Not sure what he was doing, but so far so good.

That said, it's entirely possible I'd need contacts or glasses (and entirely probable I'll need reading glasses) at some point in the future. In theory they could take these lenses out and change them, but I could also get glasses or contacts...and the idea is that then my vision wouldn't be so bad I'd need the special super expensive glasses/custom-made contacts, and could do shit like order from costco!! (I can't even imagine)

Ordering inexpensive glasses online is a great dream of mine. I had hoped that myopia would get better as I aged and got more farsighted but nope.

lisah- I have astigmatism and really bad near-sightedness, and I order from zenni optical all the time.

Because books.

I think my nearsightedness has leveled off, but the reading thing is new and annoying. I wear contacts, though, so it's generally just a matter of remembering to have reading glasses around.

I like me in glasses, too (Sara loves me in my glasses and thinks they're "so pretty"), but I hate wearing them. They get dirty, and when it's hot they slide, and if you go from cold to warm they get steamed up ... I could complain about them more, but you probably get the idea.

I do sort of wish I was OK with waering one of those elastic band that holds your glasses on, because they do slide down my nose a lot.

My only complaint about glasses is that my transitions lenses don't get dark when I'm in the car. (They're triggered by UV light, which the car windows block.)

Really, Sophia? Last time I checked they wouldn't make glasses to my prescription. But maybe it wasn't zenni?
