lisah- I have astigmatism and really bad near-sightedness, and I order from zenni optical all the time.

I think my nearsightedness has leveled off, but the reading thing is new and annoying. I wear contacts, though, so it's generally just a matter of remembering to have reading glasses around.

I like me in glasses, too (Sara loves me in my glasses and thinks they're "so pretty"), but I hate wearing them. They get dirty, and when it's hot they slide, and if you go from cold to warm they get steamed up ... I could complain about them more, but you probably get the idea.

I do sort of wish I was OK with waering one of those elastic band that holds your glasses on, because they do slide down my nose a lot.

My only complaint about glasses is that my transitions lenses don't get dark when I'm in the car. (They're triggered by UV light, which the car windows block.)

Really, Sophia? Last time I checked they wouldn't make glasses to my prescription. But maybe it wasn't zenni?

There is a $5 charge for extra-nearsightness I think. I have a weird prescription because my left eye is VERY nearsighted and has no astigmatism and my right eye is VERY astigmatic and not very nearsighted, so I only need the special charge in one eye.

Damnit, Zulily's Keen sale started yesterday and they're already sold out of practically everything! I was hoping to buy the kids some sandals in advance this year.

Apparently my vision problems are not going to be fixed with a quick med change like I'd hoped. Migraine doc said "You're 44. See an optician."

Uh, okay? I guess I haven't been around enough people who aged into bad eyesight (everyone else in my family was born with it--a couple of them legally blind), so I had no idea that some days not being able to read and some days being able to read fine (like today) was how they deteriorated.

At least I hope my eyes are bad on whatever day my optician's appointment turns out to be.

Apparently the hospital wants to make me a test case for getting chronic pain out of the ER, so they're highly motivated to make the home care thing work. Seems like it rests with my insurance company now. Still not going to get excited.

I think I wasn't a good candidate for Lasik during my window because if there were issues it would be with the very center of my vision, and I'm likely to get glaucoma, so that would kill my peripheral vision. But this last pair of glasses is the first time I've changed prescriptions in about ten years. Before that it was yearly since I was a wee thing, and could have been more frequent, honestly.

I toy with contacts periodically and it's getting closer, but I still can't quite get enough correction.

I wonder about peripheral vision cause you know how your brain learns to filter out what's outside of your lenses? And today's styles are so much smaller than they used to be? I wonder if there isn't long term degradation outside of that when I don't use it for so long? I mean, like, would I be better off with those giant hipster glasses? Only the lenses would look super thick around the edges again.
