this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

xkcd, not helping me feel better about flu season: [link]

The mouseover made me laugh my ass off, though.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

The mouseover was really funny!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

ita, does this help?

Thanks, but no, not without saying where they got the potatoes from. Recipes I've got. Supplies is what I'm lacking.

I used them a while ago in a recipe for a stew that called for plantains, but I couldn't find plantains, and they seemed like they'd give a somewhat similar flavor

That doesn't sound like Jamaican sweet potatoes. They're not similar to plaintains much at all--well, certainly not more than orange sweet potatoes are.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

It's weird how easy it was to just stop drinking the other stuff--do you have a carbonator?

ita !, yes, it is! I was drinking a couple sodas a day, and only so few because I knew how bad it was for me. When I was younger I'd drink 5-6 Mt Dews a day. (Considering they contain bromine, I wonder if that's the reason my thyroid went on strike a few years ago. Bromine replaces iodine.) I don't have a carbonator - I've thought about getting one, but turns out the carbonation isn't really what I crave. It's the citrusy taste with a slight mouthfeel of oil, which True Lemon has, though not as heavy as Mt Dew. *sigh* I still want Mt Dew though. it's like an addiction, I swear it is.

I doubt your vision is too bad--it's for people whose vision is too bad for LASIK! My glasses were a -13.5, and I know they've done stronger. It's called ICL--I think the company that makes them is Visian? There's also a similar but different procedure from a company called...Verisye? Or something? Google implantable contact lenses, it'll all come up.

meara, thanks for the info. I looked it up. I might be too old, but I'm going to see of there's a place near here that does it. Can't hurt to check it out!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Dagnabbit. I just called my (former) vet's office to see if I could bring them the leftover prescription cat food and meds I no longer need, and they basically just referred me to the pound. Which is fine, but I don't want to go there! Mostly due to the adoptable cats there. And I did want to bring something nice to the vet's office staff, because I liked them, but maybe not enough for a special trip?? This was all way easier in my head.

Good luck, Karl!

Doubt it--it's the same thing they do for people with cataracts, only without taking off the cataract first! They do have to do some preliminary tests that you can't figure out on your own, though--like how healthy your eyes are and how big your pupils and/or irises are, or something. Plus, it was hella expensive (but I figured less than 20 years of new glasses and contacts, plus worth it)

Punishingly Intricate

Stupid astigmatism seems to rule me out as a candidate (from my brief review of one WebMD article). Glasses forever, I guess.

Glasses forever = AWESOME! I love my glasses. Mostly. Until I need bifocals. Which might be like next week.

Hi. I'm writing from over Missouri right now. Onboard WIFI rocks. I have entered almost all my grades and finished some other work. I think instead of just blahhing around the internet, which is my usual MO, I feel compelled to be productive because the woman in the next seat is so much more productive than I!

Punishingly Intricate

I have progressive lenses and I can't really do contacts because they irritate my eyes. My eyes are kind of bullshit, really. I do love the look of my glasses though.

My coworker is making me want to smack her. She can't shut up about how fat she is, which alone is super annoying, but she's also 20 lbs lighter than me (and the same height) &, roughly, 50 lbs lighter than my boss. And she has no idea how rude she is being. Ugh!
