"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, Allyson had a thoughtful post about that. I will post over there, but let me take this moment to encourage people to take the suicide prevention first aid course that ASIST offers. It's intense, but realistic, practical training for people who want to be able to intervene. And it's best if it's in person, and I'm no expert, but I would just like to say that if anyone is ever contemplating suicide that I have been through the training and you should feel free to contact me. I don't have any magic answers but I'm not afraid to talk about it, so please don't hesitate.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I've also never seen "wheat" bagels, but I suppose it's not awful.

I've had whole wheat bagels and yes, they are. (And if "wheat" doesn't mean whole wheat...what are the other bagels made of?)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

New post for separation from that and to be whiny...I had to drive all over town today to get my flu shot. First I tried Walgreens, then CVS, then the hospital, then I finally got smart and started calling. Wal art didn't have it, either. But Safeway did. So now my shoulder is achy. But hopefully I am building immunity Right Now AIFG.

Then I grocered, libraried, hung out with my friend, came home and totally crashed. So much for my productive Saturday. I still totally could sleep right now.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That sounds pretty productive, Liese!

I am like Burrell. I think the one true bagel is sesame.

I am taking Grace to a Girl Scout Pajama Party tonight and then bringing her home at 9:30 (along with all of the other 5 year olds in my troop). There are going to be over 100 girls there. Someone, please save me.

Javachick and DCistas, I'm flying into DC on Thursday and will be swamped. I am, however, available, all day Sunday until about 4:00 PM and would love to see people.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

My favorite bagel is pumpernickel. With some sort of savory cream cheese.

Also. I am going to LAX to pick up my niece from her 7:50 AM flight and then to drive her to Anaheim. It'll be nice to see her even with long drive.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

It was in the mid-70s here today, so I spent a lot of ime outside. I also took he opportunity of sandal-friendly weather to get a pedicure. Now my toenails are a lovely blue-violet.

Sparky, I'm sorry we missed you out here. I don't know what happened, except I fell off the earth.

Suzi! I was totally thinking of you. Our washer died last week. So we took it about and cleaned the clutch and put it back together but still had the same issue. A repair guy came on Thursday and said it was the upper bearings and we'd have to pay $1000 to have it fixed. So we plan on parting it out but we needed to buy a new washer.

Got a maytag with questionable reviews (it's a low water/low energy machine and has a fussy system of loading and soaping). It was originally $700 but we got it for $450 at Lowes. As we were installing it, the water cut off did NOT cut off water. So we flooded some of the garage but figured it out pretty fast.

Now I've washed all the things. Life without a laundry machine is grim.
