This morning I woke up and it was 1. One degree.
I'm going to be thawing the birdbath all day today! I stoked the fire up and it's blazing merrily along, though, so the dog and I are pretty cozy at the moment.
Connie, I don't know that organization, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't any good. The Navajo reservation is about the size of West Virginia and its population is over 300,000. Only Cherokee is bigger in population, and that's because Cherokee doesn't have a blood quantum. So there's plenty of room for organizations that I know nothing about!
Looking over their website they seem reasonable enough if their work is as stated. I was hoping to find some details on who their "program partners" were, because being Navajo run orgs or groups I am more likely to know them. There were are few things stated in their education section about the Navajo that the Navajo would take issue with! But they are the same things that most people would say.
There certainly is a need for relief aid at the moment because the temperatures are so cold and the weather has made transportation of supplies difficult. So if they are focusing on those most rural areas, those populations definitely need the help.
It's your call, ultimately. I can't help directly, unfortunately.
What's with the wacky temperatures everywhere? I'm trying to figure out how to layer for 51° on the way to work and potentially 27° on the way home.
Stay warm, folks! 1 degree seems impossibly cold to me. I am such a weather wimp.
Coffee is brewing, but I had a hard time sleeping last night. Isaac woke me up once, and the cat woke me 3 more times. She was mad because there wasn't any wet food for her, but there was a full bowl of dry food and she loves the dry, so I have no sympathy for her. I want my sleep, dangit.
Yeah, it dropped 20 degrees in six hours Thursday. It was 47, and dropped to 27. And now it's 1.
It's supposed to get up into the high 50s this weekend in NYC, which is just bananas for the middle of January. FUCK YOU GLOBAL WARMING GIVE ME SOME SNOW.
Yeah, here? High of 65 today. WHAT THE HELL JANUARY. That's shorts weather. And then 34 on Monday. CRAXY.
It's apparently 20 degrees warmer in Boston than in San Diego.
It's 37 here, and I need to take the dog out walking, argh.
Lots to do today, but I'd rather sit at home and read. Sigh.
Anyway, here's something wonderful for the Good Things Tumblr:

So cute!
Any Chicagoista lose a live chicken?

It's been in the 30s at night here, and the lack of insulation and heating means our house is about 40 degrees when I wake up. That's already way too cold for me.
Any Chicagoista lose a live chicken?
I've seen a woman with a chicken near the post office on Devon.
