Dang, there has been a city bus surrounded by first cop cars, then metro police , then metro police AND cop cars at the end of my alley (on the main street) for the past 2 HOURS, at least. Wonder what the hell happened.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

When I was working from home, I went between the sofa and a table, depending. But I wasn't really full-time and it was only six months. If I were really working from home, I'd need a stricter routine.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I work from home most Wednesdays, usually from the sofa.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Scary, sarameg.

Man, I slept reasonable last night, and napped today, and I'm still already ready for bed. I realize the past 5 nights of 5 hours was insufficient, but still.

Also, I'm super glad that someone said something about plans for tomorrow, because I completely spaced that I had booked a lunch date with a friend!

So no movie for me, but it will be a fun day anyway.

Yay lunch date!

So, the person on Virgin Mobile Live Chat just told me I can move the phone number from my cable-company landline onto a phone from them. Could that magic be true?? (Somehow I'm terrified I won't end up with a good number if I get a new cell phone.)

Also, I'm watching Scandal, and I just can't take their local news seriously when it's being given by Perd Hapley of Parks & Rec's "Ya Heard! With Perd."

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yup, I'm pretty sure you can do that.

OK, that's great. Somehow I thought it was just cell phone to cell phone. So I get this new phone, transfer the number, cancel the landline, transfer all the important info from my old phone, cancel that one, and bob's your uncle!

...this is going to take a while.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I didn't mind, though, because I didn't know any better.

At my first job, for a while I had an office (it was the one with the thermostat--a co-worker got so angry that he came in and knocked it off the wall--yeah, we all loved his anger management methods) and then for a while there was just a really big room where all the programmers had desks. During that period, I spent a lot of time with the sysops, and I can't remember where I sat, because I didn't have a desk. And why the hell would they let me hang out with the sysops? Well, except for the part where I learnt how to sysop, and then they made me come in every snow emergency because the sysops were all the way out by the border.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I was reading a nail polish review and came across this:

he nail lacquer is one I have never seen before, a color that simulates the skin color of the wearer, a darker shade for deep brown skin tones, and a beige tone for lighter complexions. Appropriately named Muscle Tone and Triumph, the colors are a new take on the nude nail polish trend from spring

What does that mean? I mean, if it's not clear nail polish?

And I apologise for typos. My eyesight has been exceptionally bad this week. I can't always see typos, much less red lines.
