I have my grandmother's mink capelet (in sad condition), an antique seal fur muff that Pete gave me ages ago, a vintage black fox stole that I found at a yard sale, and an antique scarf-thing made from multiple minks eating each other's tails. I'm against the fur industry, but have no problems with wearing vintage or antique furs.
I think donating the stole to a theatre group is a nice idea.
As a theatre costumer, furs are one of the donations I want. I don't want your old t-shirts, though
Now I wonder if my grandmother still has her stoles with the faces! Knowing her, she probably gave them to the homeless shelter, along with her Ferragamo shoes.
I was almost dressed to leave the house and I just gave up. So what if half my group is out sick as well. I cannot deal. I know it is a low-level infection sapping my will to ____, but damn, it is effective.
Now I'm going to go wash the makeup off.
Now to find out if there is any real sudafed in this house.
The two places I know of for donating furs are theatres, like Sophia said, and also some animal shelters, because apparently puppies really like to snuggle up against furs.
Consuela, I sold a mink coat I inherited from my godmother for about $5K in NYC about 10 or 15 years ago - I don't know that the market is that strong in SF. I don't know how much a stole would be worth.
Celebrity sighting at work today - I held the door open for Betty White as she was coming into the broadcast center. (I was going out; the coffee is in the broadcast center but my office is across the street.)
OOh, good one!
Staying home is a good call, Sara.
Man, I should have stayed home, I was 30 minutes late getting in adn am already crying at my desk. no reason. someone just asked me a simple calendarring question. I am pretty sure when asked anything that I am doing everything wrong, or have messed something up - that is not an effective mindset for work. I may have to leave.
