A huge cooler FULL. There are breakfast sausages, game salami, fillet mignon, bunches of steaks, and I've only dug through the top couple of layers

DUDE. That's awesome! You won't need to buy meat all year!

I keep trying to get my coworkers in AK to send me salmon or crab, or give it to me when I'm there, but so far no luck.

Oooh, I'm envious, Suzi.

On it's own, the word Neveah is kind of pretty, sounds exotic, and not too bizarre to spell. Knowing someone said "I know! Heaven spelled backwards and wrong!" makes it annoying.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's so great, Suzi!

Dennis Lehane is on our local public affairs show talking about his lost dog. It is the craziest thing. And, as he said, "Must be a really really slow news week."

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How do you moms (and dads, but it seems to be a mom thing with my friends) a) get your kids to do the homework and b) not explodiate with rage.

Emmett's surprisingly good about doing homework. It used to be the source of many tears, especially in 3rd grade when the teacher was giving him a couple hours a night of homework. Completely unnecessary and so stressful. I'm really anti-homework after that experience.

Anyway, he started going to an aftercare program where all the kids had 45 minutes of homework before they could play. It just got them all in the habit. And now he does it himself. I just have to check and remind him and he's usually right on it. He still doesn't study much for tests but that's slowly changing.

Matilda can get very resistant and whiny about it, but fortunately her teacher's assignments are usually pretty interesting. Her aftercare also has a "homework club" so she often gets half of it done there.

The main thing I've learned is no matter what else you do with your homework schedule, make sure they do it before 7pm, or it will end in tears.
