Actually I have wondered on occasion who funds the drug studies that aren't funded by the manufacturer. The FDA?

I know they tend to run the studies, but do they actually fund them? University researchers and professors generally bring research money in from outside.

And I'm pretty sure the Alzheimer's Association is the largest non-government funder of Alzheimer's research, but I don't know how much drug research is a part of that.
So the rabidly anti-vax nutwhack in my fb circle now has to deal with an outbreak of whooping cough in her kid's school. I don't want or need the drama of pointing out "YOUR FAULT, BITCA", so I'll just be petty and vent it here.
