I know they tend to run the studies, but do they actually fund them?
Oh sorry, misunderstood the question.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

And I'm pretty sure the Alzheimer's Association is the largest non-government funder of Alzheimer's research, but I don't know how much drug research is a part of that.
So the rabidly anti-vax nutwhack in my fb circle now has to deal with an outbreak of whooping cough in her kid's school. I don't want or need the drama of pointing out "YOUR FAULT, BITCA", so I'll just be petty and vent it here.
Stupid antivax dumbass.
I just had cold fried chicken for breakfast. So filled with salty protein goodness.
does her child have whooping cough?
(BTW, can I say this kind of shit gets me angrier than just about anything. I fucking hate easily preventable potential tragedy).
I think it's NIH.
Ah, that makes sense. As does your point about the Alzheimer's Association, that various groups would fund research into specific diseases.
Oh sorry, misunderstood the question.
No worries.

Oy amych, but yes, no benefit to pointing it out to her.

Holy cow, so tempting.
Can you just post the link to that webpage showing how many people Jenny McCarthy has killed, without commentary?
... I guess not.
Actually when I think about it, most of the recent cases of whooping cough in my friendship circle have been among the parents, not the kids. That's probably due to vaccination of the kids. One friend had it when she was pregnant and said it was agony.

I always think of myself as being about 26 years old. Then I see stuff like this and am hit with reality: "Bitch, you're 42!" I graduated high school in 1988. Oy. And yes, I had the 80s spiral perm, though my hair was longer then than I have kept it as an adult.
The anti-vax thing drives me insane. We have one at Shane's pre-school (the family is also vegan, no sugar, no tv, etc, etc).
I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but the no tv, no sugar thing has zero effects on my life. Failure to vaccinate - not so much.
When I thought Sammy had chicken pox (turns out is was roseola, I think), all I could think about was what if he had a truly dangerous but preventable virus.
