So I'm trying to start the new year on a good note. Yesterday I cleaned out a bunch of junk from my house, went for a hike with a friend and made a hearty and healthy dinner. Today I cleaned my desk off--actually used cleaner and paper towels and got a year's worth of dust and tea stains off the thing.
It's like I was never gone!
I have basically no new emails in my inbox, so I'll have to figure out what to do with myself the rest of the day. Long-term projects, I guess, pfeh.
At least it's a beautiful sunny day, and I can see the hills & the bay & the Transamerica Pyramid clear as anything from my window.
Found it! It was sitting on the woodstove, to warm up. It's nice and warm now.
If I ever see a block of free time coming up, I'm going to actually use our training centre. Our CIO is disappointed that we don't but does she really think I'm going to curl up and learn .NET (yeah, I want to have a better bullshit meter for some of the stuff the developers are telling me--I refuse to believe .NET is such a hamstrung development choice) on the weekend? I'm old now, plus there's fic.
I'm at work for the first time in almost two weeks! Now I have to figure out what it is I'm supposed to be working on!
I am Theo. I was a little bewildered when the alarm went off this morning.
I think I've done quite enough for the day, I'd like to take a break and get a manicure.
I am bummed about my nails. I did a cursory version of Ruby Pumps before we went out for NYE and I was going to clean it up and finish it. But yesterday morning I sliced a little bit of skin on my finger. It cut so cleanly that I didn't notice until later when I saw the blood. I couldn't figure it out for the longest time, and then I realized...I'd cut it on the ice in the birdbath! I'd melted it and pulled out the big slab of ice, which I then showed off to the SO sitting in the sunroom, and threw it like a frisbee. A giant, very heavy, apparently very sharp frisbee. Anyway, so now I can't redo my nails, which is sadmaking.
My alarm didn't go off this morning. I woke up wondering why it was so light outside, when my alarm was supposed to go off right around sunrise. Oops.
It's nice and quiet work-wise today. I hope that trend continues through Friday.
