She's alive, had just changed phones a year ago. She's doing well, still in the senior apartments downtown and loving it (she has a view of the harbor.) She's got a new great-grandbaby who she adores.

First one, I see an exponent 1, and a set containment symbol. Second one, the exponent 1 again, and then "&sup". Firefox 17.0.1, Mac OS 10.6.8.

Different. iOS version of Safari, I suppose I can look up more detail if you need it.

Bonus question: first one looks like a footnote or exponent, second one doesn't appear to do anything.
