Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

So am I, msbelle! New to me, too. I think the chipmunk is the best part of the movie, personally.

My plans for NYE include my brother and my dad coming over for champagne and finger food. They will probably leave well before midnight, after which I will go a fling more angry birds at pigs. I really shouldn't have asked for a Kindle for Christmas.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm watching Spinal Tap with amyth and a few others. It seems like a good way to send out the year.

I'm watching Enchanted also, though I have seen it before and dearly love it. It is a nice counter point to the pew-pew noises coming from the living room.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What is the algorithm that puts a Smitten Kitten ad in the middle of a Google Earth ad my sister sent me to? There are no sex toys ads for my sister, and I...I didn't do anything obvious that would result in that. Nor browsed Smitten Kitten.

I bought 6 patties in Ja, and I just managed to somehow ruin one. It was empty when I took it out of the oven.

I can't stop staring at this: [link] It's so perfect. The picture, that is. The "burn" is one of the weaker ones.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

We had an exceptionally good fundraising day (btw, thanks to the various Buffistas who have donated, you guys are awesome!) so we decided to celebrate NYE after all and went out for sushi! It was super nom, even though I bought sashimi instead of sushi to have less rice and ended up with a ton ton of fish.

But yeah, we celebrated and were done by 7:00pm. Yay for old people! I think there may be some Scrabble and wine for the rest of the evening, but overall, I think we're just happy and relaxed.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Lee, that first thing is not so good.

Yeah, not so much.

I am fine now, by the way.

Oh, and lest you were worried I was breaking my miserable NYE's stretch, no worries. We drove out in slight flurries and had crazy snow and ice by the time we got to the neighboring town. Drove past the fancy schmancy restaurant we were going to (this is the one with our buddy who's the chef who brought beef braised for 24 hours in Kona coffee and chutney in leaf wraps for our Blackhawks Stanley Cup party) and it was closed, so we went to the archery range to kill time until it opened, which was closed. Finally gave up and went for sushi, because we didn't want to drive around in the terrible weather, which turned out to be the right call, because the original restaurant never did open.

But all's well that ends with sushi, I say.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I am fine now, by the way.

I am very glad to hear this. Medical scares are no way to start a Monday.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes, Lee. I've had one of those rashes, and it's No Good!

How is the mouth pain, Lee? Is that under control now?

The boys have moved on to Dark Knight Rises, which somehow has increased the noise level.

Difference between overnights for boys vs girls. The only "stuff" the boys brought with them were their x-box/ps3 games and controllers.
