Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm less concerned about looking industrious and more about having pestered people on a holiday.

Eh. They don't have to respond.

Enjoy this post of deconstructed sandwiches: [link]

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I came in to work thinking I'd be manning the phones while everyone else was out, and two of my co-workers are here today. Should have gone ahead and used those last vacation hours that I'm otherwise going to lose tomorrow.

hip deep in pie

I haven't even gotten a mass email. We often get sent home a little early on NYE, and I am suspicious there's no one here to send me home. And I could use more time

I am going to a potluck tonight. I tried to make brownies last night. They flopped and stuck to the pan. Then, because I am an idiot, tried to make caramels for the first time. It would have been fine except that my candy thermometer seemed to get stuck, and I ended up burning them. My instincts told me to take them off, but I was waiting for the temp to return to 245F. It never did. So it's back to the drawing board for me. I would do a cheesecake if I had time...if I got out early.

Maybe I will leave a little early and take some vacation time.

I feel like shit and the DayQuil (D said store was all out of Theraflu, go figure), Coke and hot tea will keep me up, as will watching over the kiddo-fighting-a-cold (PLEASE let it be a cold-not-the-flu-PLEASE)so I might as well try to get SOME work done.

I reserve the right to say "FUCK IT" and crawl into my bed of contagion at any point with the Nook.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I think I'm in charge of the division today. There's me, a secretary, and the guy that started about 3 months ago.

Why the star-spangled HELL does Alka-Seltzer Multi-Symptom Day and Night NOT have the recommended DOSAGE on it? It tells you not to take more than 10 in a day; of the day? of the night? WTF?

I'm going with every 4 hours. And yes, I googled it. Doesn't say.

When I feel better, I will write them a stern e-mail. Doesn't the FDA REQUIRE dosages to be on meds? HRMPH.

(I am Grumpy McGrumpsterina today.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My boss drove three+ hours to come in for our half-day of work today. And is doing the reverse commute at 1. I told her we would have understood if she had worked from home!

I am suspicious there's no one here to send me home.

Ah yes. You can imagine how grateful I am that they announce early release days in advance here. It's the best!

I am down below 50 messages in my inbox, and they do all need dealing with, I think. Just, you know, not today.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

We are freed at 2pm. My boss isn't even in the office. She's been taking the last of her vacation days, like me and half the department. This always happens - I get to year's end with over a week vacation, I take it because I don't want to lose it, and then I end up working every single day anyway. It's frustrating.

Our wings are not tired.

I have a seriously bad attitude at work today so I went home for an early lunch. Feel free to skip the rest of the rant. First, my #1 support person has been worthless since her daughter's due date was on the 21st and she hasn't delivered yet. She was off Friday, and is off again today, but when she has been here the last couple weeks she is either running out to take her daughter to appointments, or on the phone with her. Next, my tracking shows my Nook tablet was attempted delivery to the office on Saturday and I would have to reschedule deliver or pick up at PO, so I went to PO and of course it was out for deliver today because our building never gets mail on Saturday. Also, we have had a bunch of annoying support calls mostly that have nothing to do with my actual product. I have refused to talk to any of the customers and made my receptionist take messages because I would be rude to them. I did fix their problems.

I thought it would improve my mood to complain, but it didn't. Maybe I should include a drink with my early lunch. Grrrr.
