I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Count me in, msbelle.

I'm going to see The Hobbit at 11, and I don't think I'm going to do much of anything before that besides get ready to go to the theater. That's okay, right?

Totally okay, -t. After all, you got a job yesterday!

Me, I finally dragged myself out of bed after getting home at 3:15 last night. I'm too old for midnight movies. And now I'm in my sweats with a pot of tea, waiting for a plumber and an electrician.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I would be more than happy to kick in some cash to hire a lawyer for ita !, or whatever needs to be done. I don't even have the words for how totally, horribly fucked up this situation is.

In other news, I've spent the past hour or so trying to read Emily Rapp's new book, which is coming out in March. It's about her son Ronan, who was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs disease. (She had that heartbreaking article in the NYT last year, "Notes from a Dragon Mom": [link] I cannot get through more than three pages without crying, so I think I'm just going to assign it without having read more than the first two chapters.

Then I went on FB to cheer myself up, and saw that there was a school shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, and now I'm starting to cry again. I think it might be time for a walk. Really wishing I could snuzzle my baby right now.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Amy,

I'm pretty depressed by all the mass shootings. I would like serious policy discussions.
