life ruiner
That should go on your business card. Or desk nameplate.
-t, flexible and irregular is pretty nice.
ita's ER docs make as much sense as the Michigan legislature. What the hell is wrong with people?
Watching this week's Parenthood tonight after learning that a friend/colleague passed away yesterday from a bad reaction to cancer treatments was perhaps not the best choice.
Other than the boss's assessment, why are you a life ruiner, shrift?
This week I graded all of the things, input all of the grades, returned most of the papers and now I need to finish, and give, a presentation at a conference on Saturday. What am I going to wear?
Have I mentioned that I had a good day today? I got a decent night's sleep for the first time in days, work was steady instead of OMG busy or OMG slow, no one asked me for things that don't exist, and we had a charity bake sale, so hallo, sugar high.
Only downside was that I didn't get a neat title, like Life Ruiner.
Yay Lee!
I am on the weekend, so I have a Pisco Sour. And I'm watching last night's Colbert, in which Mandy Patinkin is being awesome.
One
Vodka martini and I am so s'eepy. When did I become such a lightweight?
I had to have it. There was blue cheese in the olives.
I aspire to be a life ruiner like shrift.
I think it depends on the life.
So, I am still not motivated to go do my presentation. It's half done, but now I need to do the serious other half. You can see the partial presentation here: [link] The second half is a text set using a variety of media to point out that tech use in schools needs to be based in TEXT (if you teach english) and not just stuff to keep kids engaged that has no merit (like polling software, which is super fun to use).
Blargh. The second half is the Kehinde Wiley stuff, which my students totally dig.
Anyhow....
Instead of working, I'm lying here, yawning and debating taking a shower and reviewing my week. This week I've done a ton of weird stuff, including swim lessons, shopping at Michaels, shopping at TJs, running and providing snacks for 3 after school PDs (which means I baked pumpkin muffins, chocolate bread and gingerbread), having investiture, attending a cookie meeting for GS, going to the bank to open an account and then being able to, administering finals, grading them and then finishing out the semester, making dinner, making a gingerbread house, making latkes.
Why am I always tired? That's why.
That's a lot.
I'm tired, and I didn't do near that much. But I think I'm mostly anticipatorily tired.
Also, I'm doing a ton of work around text sets because the next set of standardized tests in CA will all be built around text sets. As I'm creating them, I keep thinking, well, I can only use them with 12th because if I use them in 9th, then I can't use them again.
Then I began thinking. I almost NEVER re-teach the same thing unless I'm totally exhausted. Since I've been teaching, I recreate curriculum every single year. This year, I have not yet taught ONE book I've taught before. Perhaps that's why I'm tired?
I'd say check your thyroid, Kat.
But that also sound like tons of stuff.
(it's just that my mom felt like that and her thyroid stopped working...)
