Don't belong. Dangerous, like you. Can't be controlled. Can't be trusted. Everyone could just go on without me and not have to worry. People could be what they wanted to be. Could be with the people they wanted. Live simple. No secrets.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Consuela, I'm so sorry.

I know at a certain point with my grandmother's Alzheimer's they got her to quit smoking (which she'd been doing heavily since she was fifteen) by telling her she'd just had a cigarette each time she asked for one. (It was more a matter of fire-hazard than lung-health that she quit). She was aware of being forgetful so she just believed them.

I have no idea if that could be helpful or not, but it sticks with me. Hang in there.

Our wings are not tired.

I am sorry for the hard days, Consuela and Kat and Homer & Jesse and other people who had hard days.

So much this. I know that life includes incredibly difficult stuff, but there really needs to be more great stuff for balance. Solution and strength ~ma all round.

One of our new division heads just wrote that our floor is either the most festive or most insane group of people he's worked with. And we've only had one division party so far this month.

... I know what I'm going with.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

We haven't done this in a while, and it seems needed: What is the last thing that made you smile unexpectedly?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The boxer I am dogsitting (Craig) who is currently engaging in such dramatics because the cat is sitting on the end of the couch that he thinks he would like to sit on.

As with Darby when the cat starts eating her food, this is all focus on getting me to do something about it. Apparently neither one of them has the stones to take it up with her directly.

(In about a minute it'll get annoying, but for now it's making me laugh.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What is the last thing that made you smile unexpectedly?

Things have been kinda' slow at work lately, so I was getting a little nervous about my long-term prospects here. But I just found out 10 minutes ago that a client of ours is getting a new accounting system which will mean a whole bunch of work for us for years. (Plus learning new stuff, which is always good for programmers.)

So I smiled unexpectedly 10 minutes ago. Still smiling.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Nice, Tommy!

I've been saving money in case of unemployment, but now that's less of a concern. Also, I just got my x-mas bonus yesterday. In conclusion, hookers and blow.

ION, Where the Wilde Things Are

And when he came to the place where the wilde things are they roared witticisms and gnashed their terrible quips. Lucy Knisley imagines a journey to where the Oscar Wilde things are. Max appears dissatisfied with it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The last thing that made me smile was the (late, I know) discovery that Benedict Cumberpatch is playing TWO characters in The Hobbit instead of just the one I knew about.

Now I'm smiling even more.
