"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I'm with Jesse. That actually might be my life motto.

information libertarian

And if that is, "Go to the airport and get on the first plane out of town," and that plane is going to Cincinnati, totally call me. I'll even let you sleep on the good mattress. We can go to the good indie bookstore tomorrow, and you can help me review NEH digital humanities grants.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You know, the whole "I sent you that email already" thing is much better with proof, because then I'd have the information I (might have) emailed you twice for.

But because I'm that person, my reply to your email that didn't tell me how to get into the system contained print screens of searches for your name and the system name, as well as lists of the other ways and places I looked for the info. This is very exciting for both of us, but I am actually thinking of leaving before 5:00 today, so let's get on with it.

Co-worker has mad PTO she needs to burn off, so she's taking Thursday and Friday off for the month, despite not being able to finish her work in three day weeks, and it also means she's not able to support the way-in-the-red upgrade project. I can't force her to not take PTO, and I'd never suggest management do anything--it's just frustrating because her time management skills are for shit and I'm where the buck stops.

Consuela, can you just think about what you need right now to get to tomorrow? And then do that? Whatever it is.

I wish I knew what that was. I don't think I've ever felt this overwhelmed before, except maybe once, back when I lived in Baltimore and my boss stabbed me in the back and threw me off the bus (metaphorically).

this is worse, because half of it is family.

We've just been told to log off the network by 5 pm, so I'm doing that and going home.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Go climbing? Shut everything off and read a book? Call a friend for dinner?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I would say go to an animal shelter and let puppies crawl on you for a while.

I'm going to let the dogs play, and then go see Wreck it Ralph, I think. It's about my speed tonight.

Because books.

I was going to say get blotto and call in sick tomorrow, and go to a movie and get a massage.

But your plan sounds good, too!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Or go see Wreck It Ralph and THEN get blotto.

IME, blotto just makes tomorrow harder. One cocktail can make tonight better.
